9 years...

It's been 9 years!

The series that defined my childhood. I could not be more excited

So happy for From Software to have gotten to where they are. Multiple GOTYs for fantastic games, and to finally return to the series that flew under the radar for so long.

It's going to be amazing

Ready for people to be mad when From have learned a lesson since 2013, and make a game that isn't a slog to play and where most of your time isn't spent comparing parts instead of actually playing a game.

I played AC4 back on PS3, but had to give up as the game was above my gaming ability. I did buy a digital copy of Verdict Day, but haven't got around to trying it yet. I'll give it a try, but if I don't give up after failing to understand how to make a good Mech build, I'm giving it a 1/10.

Hate to say it, but you're probably not the intended audience then. Most of us love the game specifically for the depth customization had and enjoyed spending hours tweaking builds.

Yeah, what's the point of making an armored core game if there's not a massive amount of parts to chose from and an excel sheet of stats to keep track? There's plenty of game like that, but armored core is unique in the depths of its customization. If they're reviving it just to make it like another generic action game, might as well leave it dead.

I think the micromanaging of equipment and the like is like the brutal difficulty of their RPG’s. It’s a feature, not a bug.

Fans of more casual action in their giant robot games are probably better served with the new Transformers game. Which is fine, the games clearly aren’t for everyone, but FromSoftware as a studio has been pretty adamant about “Hey, this series is going to play by a certain set of rules. You do not have to like it, but we’re not changing.”

While I am happy to see Armored Core return, I do feel like people are just assuming that it'll simply return to the gameplay it had back in the day, ignoring the fact that (outside of literally just one game made for PS VR, plus an updated port of a Monster Hunter spin-off) FromSoftware has only ever made Souls-style games ever since Armored Core: Verdict Day came out in 2013.

While I'm sure it'll certainly maintain a good amount of that old AC style & feel, since that series is where Hidetaka Miyazaki got his start with (though he had nothing to do with V & Verdict Day, as he was making Demon's Souls & Dark Souls during that time), I highly doubt that Bandai Namco is going to let FromSoft go that wildly different from the games that have done so well for them for the past decade. I mean, even the planned Tenchu game wound up turning into Sekiro, instead of being a Tenchu game. Bandai Namco even published AC V & VD, so they likely feel that they know what works & what doesn't work.

I'm not saying that Armored Core VI will simply be "Souls, but with Mechs", but I am saying that people should temper any expectations about it playing just like the AC games of old. I just feel like FromSoft has gotten itself pigeonholed into making a specific style of game for a long time now, and Bandai Namco doesn't seem like a publisher that will exactly be willing to let FromSoft break away from that & go back to what they used to do. Here's hoping for the best, at least.

"Latest game in mecha action franchise will launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox X|S, Xbox 360, Steam."

Pretty sure it's not coming out for the 360...

Hate to say it, but From is not going to release a game that sells to 100,000 people anymore after making games that sell to millions.

There's definitely still a place for niche software at FromSoft. I'm not sure how many units Deracine sold, but couldn't have been many.
