As I thought, I didn't hate the animation, it's just that the designs are wonky at times. Beyond that, the action is solid, and the characters have good facial expression and body language, never giving me a headache trying to figure out how they're feeling like so much worse CG projects do. Yes, it looks like something out of a video game, but it'd be a damn decent-looking one.

The bit about Lancelot's role in the story didn't surprise me, but for the life of me, I didn't recognize him at the start, even though I was already familiar with that design. It must've been the voice, since I imagined him having a different VA for that age. Speaking of which, I find it funny that Tristan has two different VAs in Japanese for his "teen" and "child" selves when his "teen" VA could easily handle both, while he only has the single dub VA for both ages. Perhaps that threw me off.

Anyways, time to wait a stupidly long time for the second half. Probably could've waited, but it's too late for that.
