Considering how many people left White Fox, the studio change is not surprising.

I’m going to guess July as well.

Man, the movie was a while ago. I still remember watching it because FUNINow did a very limited streaming run for it (a week or so), but nothing since then.

What happened, exactly?

Main reason is because of Atelier Pontdarc, the studio making Isekai Ojisan.

It was founded by Yoshikawa Tsunaki, who was one of the main producers for White Fox, working for series like Steins; Gate, Goblin Slayer, and Re:Zero. His departure from White Fox to create this new studio lead to a lot of in-house WF staff to move over with him.

There are also a lot of WF staff that went to Studio Bind, I believe.

Can it be true? Is it possible? Is my Christmas wish of a non-CGI slayer coming to fruition?

In more serious discussion, what will be covered in the new season? It will probably be spoiler[the festival and the mission where priestess takes the lead(and i'm looking forward to the character development both her and GS get in that section)]. But I'm kind of hoping also for some of the side story's to get their own fun little episode, especially spoiler[The one where GS, Spearman, and Heavy Swordsman go and take on a dungeon together. Funniest chapters of the Brand New Day spinoff manga]

Also is it too greedy to hope this series gets really popular so that potentially Year One gets an adaptation? Cause IMO, I think its actually better than the main story.(though then again, a lot of Year One works much better when you know the main story.)

Thanks for the explanation. I'm a bit worried about Re:Zero S3 now (I hope they'll announce it this year); I hope they'll be able to keep the original director and composer for it, at least!

My only surprise is how long it took to get the official second season to air after the movie. I thought the first season did well enough to warrant further adaptation, while the movie did enough to keep interest going despite not being top drawer.

Plenty of behind the scenes production issues might be the reason, but now that they're resolved and production is in full swing I'm looking forward to the next season whenever it airs.

Either its the new art style or the Priestess is older. Can't tell which :/ More importantly, unless I blinked and missed it... they didn't show the best char in the whole show, the Witch! Please be in this 2nd season and get more screen time, she deserves more screen time and if she's not here I am going to be so upset D:

Im not, a new anime usually takes on average 3 to 4 years to be made if u don't want something rushed or cheaply made, the fact is the second season was probably approved after s1 aired and the movie was a little side project while they were focusing on this one.

I imagine the studio change plus covid is why it took an extra year or two to be released, so this was within the expected timeframe.
