I don't know if I'd pick it up tbh, but it is nice to see this get a physical release and not be stuck only on netflix.

Not something I'll pick up, but it's nice to see that it seems like more Netflix anime are keeping their original dubs when they're licensed for physical. Hopefully Viz grabs the rest of Jojo down the line.

Nice to see Viz getting Netflix titles again along with Levius.
Gives me hope for Rohan & Stone Ocean and maybe Sailor Moon Eternal. |

Netflix's logo is nowhere to be found on the back cover for this release, unlike with Viz's Blame! movie & Levius releases, so it's possible that Netflix might not have had any rights to the show itself (or, at least, home video rights), which hopefully might mean something n general when it comes to more recent anime that Netflix has first streaming rights to (JoJo, Bastard!!, etc.). |

If I may ask, why would any anime series that's originally a Netflix-exclusive get a different dub when licensed for a physical release? Has that happened before? |

IIRC, like Bastard!!, Record of Ragnarok was a WB Japan release Netflix licensed, not an in-house commissioned production. That might explain the license not having Netflix logos.
It would also explain any potential redub as well. That’s usually because the licensor doesn’t want to pay for the union track (Netflix has exclusively used union dubs for several years now). |

It has happened with some of the more recent physical releases of Netflix shows by Sentai. At some point, Netflix started a policy that if the dub it commissioned was used for the physical release, then that other company had to pay them a percentage of the cost for it. I've heard it's half, but I don't know for sure. In those situations, we've seen it happen where it was apparently cheaper to do a whole new non-union dub than to pay for part of union dub. |

I think in the case of Vinland Saga, Sentai actually announced their dub cast for the home video release first, and then out of nowhere there was this stealth announcement of a completely-separate dub that Netflix commissioned. Still have no idea what was going on there. |

I think that was more of the union issue I mentioned. If they didn’t license it from Sentai but from the original Japanese distributor, their regulations obligate them to make a dub with union talent. |
