As someone that recently played the Wii version over Steam through RetroArch. It was a nightmare, and I don't recommend playing it that way, as lag was high and controller setups were a pain.

Most of us had Switches, but not all. We were talking how it would've been better on the Switch. Otherwise, the Wii and PS2 versions are natively couch co-op/vs only.

It's a great game, but it takes a long time to beat, even longer if someone is competitive to the point of hunting other players, which the game promotes while playing quite often.

I have played quite a lot of it on Wii. This is a very fun game, but if you're looking for a competitive game, you better skip it.
From what I remember the game is not balanced at all, the IA not good (the monster never use Counter if I'm not mistaken, making them too easy to 1-shot), there are lot of things which can be easily improved.

But if you're just in for some fun, the game is hilarious, the poor newbie in last place will keep transforming into a Darkling to wreak havoc, a under-leveled player can just keep challenging high level players until he win and he will instantly catch up to his level, you use field magic during your turn to annoy your friends...

The Wii game was also easily hex-editable if you have a modded Wii (or an emulator now I guess), I was able to speed up the job level-up for more fun and unbalance, because it's quite grindy in the base game unfortunately.
