I keep wondering if any of the animators who do these moe shows don't ever consider ending it all with guns to their heads, after writing in their suicide notes: "I can't believe I went to animation school for this!" Rolling Eyes Laughing

But the OVA weren’t that ecchi; after all it has all the elements this kind of series needs. I’m really hoping for a good development for the series in October. I have never read the manga; because I want to enjoy the anime; hoping for the best and not just a fanservice show. Komodo no Jikan has potential in many ways.

See you.

The OVA was EXTREMELY ecchi! It just never really crossed the ecchi/hentai line, is all. Pushed it a bit, though. I mean just because their nipples weren't shown doesn't make it not ecchi (though the same can't be said for the 4th manga volume it was packaged with). They were still naked for good while. Don't get your definition of ecchi confused with something else. Wink

You know, other than that intentional panty shot the girl gives the teacher at the end, I didn't really see anything worse than what one might find in a typical anime adapted from a hentai game - which isn't to say whether the quality will be good or bad, but just typically fanservicey.

I don't know much about the material other than the basic plot, but at least from the preview, it doesn't look like some big evil thing to make a fuss about. I have a feeling they're just marketing it as "unairable on television" to work up conversation about it more than anything, because unless there's something much worse, worse* has been shown on the satellite channels at the very least.

* I realize that "worse" is a relative term and that many on this site in particular take issue with what this show represents, so I'm using my definition of it.

Oh I can't wait until this is subbed. I've read all the translated manga, up to chapter 29, and its pretty funny so far. Plus adorable lolis FTW!
Seeing something this loli-echii that will rival even the echiiness of Moetan... this is going to be amazing!

I wouldn't be surprised if they eveuntally start showing nipples though. They gradually did it in the manga. I mean... if Rizelmine was able to get away with what it showed, I can only imagine what Kodomo no Jikan will eventually get away with lol.

Ummmm...this is officially lolicon now, right? There's really no disputing this fact anymore? Plot development be damned, 'because this is the glorification and sexualization (is that a word?) of underage kids. After watching the trailer, I really can't see it any other way.

Was there a time when KnJ was not officially lolicon? BTW, this is not the "glorification and sexualization of underage kids" because they're all fictional drawings.

What worries me most about the OVA was how easily I confused the character designs for older characters from other shows -- does anyone else think Rin looks like Nagi from Hayate no Gokuto? Her friends look like other, older girls too -- admittedly still loli-fied, like from Lucky Star (and part of the preview for the next episode makes them look like the cast of He is my Master). Is it more disturbing that older characters look like children, or that we accept children acting like adults because we're used to adults being designed like children?

I'm all for cute. I love cute. I wallow in the cute. I have nothing against moe in general, or even loli in general, I just find that shows with these elements are usually an utter waste of my time and intellect. And I personally don't particularly enjoy sexualizing my cute anyway; I'd *much* rather just squee over something (or someone) adorable, and don't see the point in turning it into something else. Then again, I'm not a man, which I assume helps for that sort of thing. Wink
But whatever makes you happy, and doesn't hurt anyone is fine with me. Still...well, I don't have to watch this, so I'll leave it at that. :/

Supposedly there's 'real psychological drama' in Kojikan, so perhaps the anime series will go more in that direction. Possibly.

But for now...*sits back and waits for this thread to explode* Very Happy

GATSU: I wanna read some of those final testaments. Laughing

Neverwhere: Nagi is 13, that is to say, a child. I know these characters are younger than her, but I suspect not by that much.

I'll give you Lucky Star, but that show has always had the trademark loli character designs anyway. They look more like dolls than realistic designs of high school students so it's not altogether a fair comparison.

I was really hoping for some.....you know....plot. The manga has a very good plot right now.....even if it's going in a pretty dark direction. Hope they don't turn the TV series into some fanservice anime....but that's a little to much to hope for

I know that. Rolling Eyes She's very young, but still a teenager. Rin and her friends are much younger, in 3rd grade. (It is 3rd, isn't it?)

*small sigh* The 4-koma is is a comedy, with lots of parody/satire elements, so I guess you could call them parody loli designs. That doesn't negate the fact that they're all still loli-fied. Where, exactly, did I say they were realistic? NOTHING about loli is realistic, that's rather the point. :/

Is it bad to be curious about this show? I'm not a fan of ecchi (Lolis are okay) but I just wanna see why Nymphet is so popular/notorious.

Here we go again, indeed! Rin Kokonoe, Kuro Kagami, and Mimi Usa are not people. They're not even human, they're cartoons. Some of the things they do could cause a person to get hurt, expelled, arrested... possibly deported. To put it another way, don't try this at home.

Joking, and fond memories of another controversial animated show aside, please. Nowhere in the manga is sexual abuse or sexual contact with a minor in anyway glorified, promoted, or encouraged. Contact is shown, I grant you, but it is never done so maliciously against the minor party. In fact, I put it to you that American comic books in general contain much more graphic and "illegal" content than the four volumes and uncompiled chapters of KnJ published to date. If lolicon encourages child abuse, then books like Captain America volume 5, #25 encourages murder and assassination of patriots and heroes. The moral outrage should be equal, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't get why people are all "OMG, KnJ is pure smut" when right now you have School Days airing which contains multiple instances of minors engaging in full-on intercourse (never explicitly shown of course), and of course the infamous Moetan, which is blatantly sexual with the constant crotch shots of two high school girls who have physically preteen bodies. How that (mostly) gets on air, and this commercial spot doesn't is far beyond me. Of course it's all great promotion for the likely uncensored DVDs.
