It’s coming, apparently whether we want it or not, and Netflix has earmarked this as one of the potential shows to be a flagship for the service in the same way Stranger Things is. Hopefully they don’t miss the point the way Bebop did.

Already saw people complaining that Luffy is wearing shoes. I can’t imagine a stunt person or actor having to wear flip flops on set all day in an action heavy series.

The costumes look better than Cowboy Bebop's that's for sure. I'm genuinely surprised Nami is wearing a skirt with no pants underneath. But the true test will be how it's written.

Just Bebop since Death Note was practically finished when Netflix bought it up

Also both Bebop and One Piece are distributed by Tomorrow Studios (although the accounts for One Piece swore up and down there was no staff overlap).

I guess you were not around for the whole debackle of actress Daniella Pineda complaining that she didn't want to wear the same outfit as Vay Valentine in the cowboy bebop live action Tv series and instead wore what looked like a parker for a top and long pants covering up her legs entirely. But imo hardly anything to get so annoyed about, there was many problems wrong with Cowboy bebop, that of which was the least of my concerns. Still the fandom wants the character to be recreated in the best possible and most accurate way that they remember in the manga/anime and if they don't give us that, people will complain.

Looks like it’s happening this year. Can’t tell from the bottom image if it’s actually the 5 actors in their costumes or not, but it looks like they’re being very accurate to their looks from the manga and anime. So from this image and the promo video they released with the ships it’s looking like they’re trying to be accurate to the source material. I’m hoping it’ll actually be good because everything from the casting to the sets looks good, but it could still be garbage. I’m cautiously optimistic that it’ll be good, but again the track record is pretty bad for Western adaptations of manga and anime so who really knows?

I can't complain here, the clothes attire is pretty spot on, and everyone looks the part, but my goodness being released in 2023 this year, can't we get a trailer at least?

People don't realize but this show could single handling be responsible for making or breaking tv Hollywood anime adaptations for years to come because it is the most popular manga and the crowned shonen of Japan. If there is one thing we have learned, is show runners and directors/producers should NOT write their own series without approval of the original creator and that is exactly what happened with Cowboy Bebop and probably why it had so many problems. Creator of the anime series Shinichirō Watanabe has expressed that he was merely just credited as a consultant but had no further involvement in the show at all and had stated when it came to trying to approve certain things, that they would ignore him and do it their own way which is the reason it failed on so many accounts. One piece is VERY different in that regard, every aspect of this show is going through an approval by oda and the show runners acknowledge enough that this is oda's work and they want to do it as accurately as possible to the real source and there mutual respect for oda is just unfathomable and that is kind of close knit relationship you should have.

If this series becomes a huge hit, then I believe other studios will follow suit in terms of adhering more to these practices of the respective works and the world will become a much better place for Hollywood live action anime productions.

This will either be generally good, and we'll all be happy or hilariously bad, and we'll all be happy. I doubt we will get some middle of the road forgettable bad.

There was a lot of stink about Faye's costume being changed.
