King Amusement Creative began streaming on Friday the first minute for Evangelion: 3.0+1.11: Thrice Upon A Time...

That's, uh, not what this is. Unless the article writer meant to say something like "...a video of which the first minute is content from..."

They just cant stop messing with it can they. All these versions later my favorite still remains the original TV series as broadcast.

Didn't think eva genwunners were a thing... you'd watch the show without the director's cut versions of the episodes? Since that's the broadcast version after all

Yes, Indeed I am not the only one. The recap Death and Rebirth films added extra scenes but also altered the flow of events taking them out of chronological order and grouping them by theme. A fresh version of the recap film without those extra scenes and reordering was released on TV in Japan under the name Death(true). Then another cut Death(true)2 was produced for the VHS release and was used for the theatrical rereleases. It was also the version used for the third film Revival of Evangelion (which was a combination of the Death Film and The End of Evangelion film).

The directors cut does improve the detail of some scenes but then it also does random stuff like tinting all air pressure shockwaves pink, replacing tanks with armoured cars. Generally lower quality sound design e.g. tank shells make pinging sounds like bullets rather than deeper sounding impacts or music playing on a car stereo is continuous in the directors cut but in the broadcast version it stops when the camera moves outside the car then is playing again when the camera moves back inside. Those kind of attention to details.

Fundamentally however the original anime ending left it as Shinji was essentially rebooting the universe into an alternate reality where different choices could be taken rather than having to rebuild civilization from the ground up on a destroyed world as he trys and fails to recreate his love interests. Arguably the original anime ending of creating an alternate reality where everyone is able to live a happy life is what they went back to in the ending of 3.0 +1.0.

I think the confusion comes with the actual trailer name, ‘Rebuild of evangelion: 3.0+1.11’. It’s not wrong, though, as the four movies as a whole are named ‘Rebuild of evangelion’ outside of Japan, but they don’t use that terminology up there, and every movie has its own name:
- first is ‘evangelion shin gekijouban: jo’ in japanese, and ‘evangelion 1.0: you are (not) alone’ internationally
- second is ‘evangelion shin gekijouban: ha’, and ‘evangelion 2.0: you can (not) advance’
- third is ‘evangelion shin gekijouban: Q’ or ‘evangelion 3.0: you can (not) redo’
- finally is ‘shin evangelion gekijouban Neutral|’ or ‘evangelion 3.0+1.0: thrice upon a time’
*note that others follow the same pattern, as the manga ‘evangelion 3.0 (-120 min)’ or the upcoming video ‘evangelion 3.0 (-46 hrs)’

On the other side, the only videos named ‘rebuild of evangelion: X.XX’ globally are the making of for every revision made on the rebuild movies. For example, this is the Rebuild of evangelion 1.01 video, for that version of the movie. So actually, there’s 6 videos in this series:
- rebuild of evangelion: 1.01, as an extra for the 1.01 dvd
- rebuild of evangelion: 1.11, as an extra for the 1.11 bd
- rebuild of evangelion: 2.22, as an extra for the 2.22 bd
- rebuild of evangelion: 3.33, as an extra for the 3.33 bd
- evangelion 3.333 breakdown, as and extra for the 3.333 cinema screening and bd. As for what I know, this is just a ultra hd remaking for the movie, and doesn’t alter events or their presentation for the movie itself
- rebuild of evangelion: 3.0+1.11, as an extra for the upcoming 3.0+1.11 bd

So, as a summary, the new trailer isn’t for the movie itself, but for the ‘making of’ for the new version, and this video will come as a bonus within the upcoming release of evangelion 3.0+1.11. I hope this clarifies some things (although my explanation may be complicated).
