I'm so excited for this!! I read the original novel so I can't wait to see how this looks animated!! Though there is one chapter in the book that I hope they don't adapt because it would NOT go over well with modern audiences.

I never heard of this before, but I'm curious enough to look into the novel now. Wondering if it's like Barefoot Gen where it also touches on Japan's imperialism, or if it's more self-contained to just the protagonist's/author's story.
