I hate being one of "those" people, but I prefer the original Japanese dub.

It's streaming on the Japanese YouTube account without subtitles, currently on the third season which America never got.

I too prefer the Japanese dub, but re-releasing the English dub for nostalgia makes sense. I'll probably rewatch a few episodes to relive my late Elementary/early middle school years, haha.

I wish Discotek could get the rights to the series. A home video re-release following the streams would be great, and Discotek could release the Japanese dub after that. I'd particularly like to see Stream get subbed, considering it STILL has yet to be fully fansubbed even as of 2023.

I miss this era of Capcom where they made tons of anime and tie ins to their shows. Rockman.exe and Viewtiful Joe were fun, but flawed, shows to watch. Plus they had great music. EXE getting so many series and episodes is kind of unthinkable now, given how dead the Rockman franchise is now.

Don't know why it would be controversial to say that. It was one of the many of those types of hacked up hodgepodge dubs from the 90s and 00s from 4Kids/Nelvana/Saban era of anime. But like people said, the original episodes are being uploaded to the Japanese YouTube channel which is nice. I already have the entire series though but if new people get into it then it's nice.

Megaman NT Warrior was one of those Kids WB anime dubs that passed me by when it was on. I think at that point I had mostly moved on from Saturday morning anime but maybe I'll check it out to see how it is.

For one reason or another, people will get very defensive over those kinds of dubs

Not to say that they'll definitely pick up Megaman/Rockman, but for what it's worth Discotek has been pretty open that releasing subbed versions of children's anime is a pretty risky move and have asked fans who want similar releases to support things like the upcoming subbed Sonic X, Medarot/Medabots and Digimon Adventure releases.

I feel like Discotek would be the one company that would take a chance on even just the NT Warrior dub at this point, but a sub release would be nice considering how many eps weren't ever dubbed.

I'm definitely doing my part by buying all of those releases. And things seem to be changing for the better on that front. Rightstuf is already listing Shaman King and Sonic X's subbed releases as Top Sellers.

It makes one wonder if it's less people not being into kids anime subbed and more companies making poor choices on what titles to release that way. Like I'm not surprised Monster Farm didn't sell well when the Monster Rancher dub never reached the level of popularity 4Kids and Saban's dubs did.

Umm, not sure which fansub rock you've been under, but while it did take a really really long time, Stream was fully fansubbed as of 2016. The same group that finished it also recently finished Beast+. So all of Rockman.EXE is now subbed.

I would still love a Blu-ray release of the entire franchise though, since the show is still stuck in 480p to this day, even in Japan.

I binge-watched the first season with the English dubs just a few months ago as a little refresher and have to agree. The German dub that I knew from my childhood was apparently based on the English dubs (since I remember that they made the exact same gags and changes), and while it didn't bother me as a kid that much, I learned over the years with similar dub comparisons how much atmosphere and serious tones can get lost due to the westernized non-serious, partially self-aware/parodied approach of anime localizations.

I can see both approaches, whether it's the one that stays faithful to the original dialogues or the self-wareness/cartoony one, have their fans, but I would always prefer the former over the latter, after I saw how much interesting and dramaturgical, narrative undertones you can miss with such a change.
Digimon is a similar case that comes into mind, although I was pretty glad that the German localization was more based on the original Japanese dubs and kept the OST and insert songs context wise, which impacts the overall dramaturgy and tone a lot. I knew from a lot of American friends that they were quite surprised when they figured how different the original JP episodes felt in comparison to the localized version they used to know.

Anyway, I still like the overall premise and storylines of both NT Warrior anime and the games, despite their minor and major differences, and consider them both as good if not even one of the best and most entertaining stand-alone stories of the Mega Man franchise.

at the very least, the NT Warrior dub was better than the average 4Kids dub.
Call me when they stream EXE. Stream and beyond.

The dub is TRASH. Blurring the swords out, cutting scenes of MegaMan pointing his buster at the screen (because apparently kids will be scared by that...) and they changed a bunch of names, like come on, MoltanicMan? Rolling Eyes

I'm aware of that, but it's only the second half of Stream that has good subs. The subs for the first half left large swaths of the dialogue untranslated, frequently leaving a translator's note explaining their Japanese wasn't good enough to understand what was being said. I'm not going to consider it fully subbed until we have proper subs for that portion.
