I cannot describe how insanely excited I am for this. Gorgeous style, co-op mode - only local though -, Amy being playable again in a mainline title after so many years, Fang the Sniper of all characters coming back as a main antagonist, and Naoto Ohshima coming back too.... amazing.

I just hope the physics/controls don't feel bad again. Sonic Mania NAILED those but then we have stuff like Sonic 4 which didn't get it at all or Classic Sonic stages in Generations (and others) which were better but still not great. Doesn't give me a massive amount of faith but I'm hoping there's gonna be a demo and I will be happy with how it feels.

I won't be the first time, as Fang was in Sonic the Fighters, but it's neat to see him being brought back, as StF was his last official appearance, I believe (not including cameos like his wanted poster in Sonic Generations).

Ah yes, the "hopeful optimism" part of the Sonic Game Release Cycle.

@Pandsu I doubt it will have those pinball physics, Mania only had them as that was on the same engine used to port the MD titles. I might be wrong, but weren't the Advance games the last new ones, as in not a retro throwback, that replicated that style?

Can't Sonic fans ever just be happy? Why do we have to go through this whole cycle of pre-release "It's going to be bad" release "It's bad" and post release "that game sure was bad". If not then there are other game series you can play.

Honestly, it looks pretty cool, kind of like a New Super Mario Bros. type game. I'm glad that the main 4 Sonic characters are playable

I consider myself as a casual Sonic fan, I haven't played a modern Sonic game since Unleashed for the PS2, but I had to admit that Sonic fans, not all of them of course, seem to hold some high standards, I mean I want this game to be good. Perhaps some people just want Sonic to be as popular as he was in the 90s, I mean, he's still popular but it seems SEGA never managed to recapture that popularity from the first 3 games. Kind of reminds me of a comment when the Mario movie managed to reach the combined profits of both Sonic movies, they said something like, "Man, can't SEGA just have one win over Nintendo just once". The console wars between SEGA and Nintendo only lasted from 1988 to 1995 and Sonic has appeard in Nintendo systems for over 20 years now, why still holding grudges?

The last semi 2D Sonic game that came out was Sonic 4 and while I personally don’t have an opinion on either episode I know the first 1 hurt some feelings. But yeah it’s time to let go.

That's...not what the "Sonic Cycle" is at all, at least not as I understand it. The old meme images were from the perspective of Sonic fans: excited at the first news of a new game, then increasingly apprehensive as more information is released, and then disgusted when the final product is terrible. All very tongue-in-cheek of course, but I don't think there's any argument that Sonic as a series has (with a few exceptions) been flailing about ever since the Sega CD days, at least until some more favorable recent entries.

The graphics look amazing and I love the option to play Amy so I'm excited for this.
