SWEET!

So it's basically Animatrix, but with Batman?

And with Bruce Timm?!? DO WANT!

Bruce Timm oversaw Batman The Animated Series and Teen Titans, among other things. His involvement gives me 100% confidence that this will be excellent.

Plus, being compatible with Batman Begins and Dark Knight? This is going to kick pure ass. After the butchering Batman got with the third and fourth movies, seeing him come back in such style and with such care this past handful of years is wonderful.

Sugoi! I can't wait. This being compatible with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight makes this all the more sweeter.

You forgot to add that a lot of anime artists worked on "Mask of the Phantasm" and "Return of the Joker".

Bruce Timm overseeing things, the enlistment of 4C and Production IG, and a nice mix of classic writers should make this really fun. DC's current move to a focus on direct to video fare [Domestic OVA's seem to be a new market for geek animation, considering how well HellBoy animated is doing] is really promising, with the New Frontier Justice League movie [based on the Darwin Cooke series] coming out next.
The use of short stories should allow for a great mix of characters too. Hopefully, we'll see lots of cool Batman villans and supporting characters not seen in the two films.

Of note to Teen Titans fans- DC's other OVA/Direct to Video feature next on slate is a more accurate adaption of the Terra story line from the 80's comic [though I hope they use the TV cast, even if the design really differs.....]. The TV version of Titans was pretty close to the Wolfman/Perez era that inspired it though, but it'll still be neat to see.

I really enjoyed most of Animatrix(better than how the actual film trilogy turned out, I thought), and Batman's always been my favorite American comic character, so I'm really looking forward to this.

That doesn't strike me as a wise decision. It's going to be very different from the Teen Titans TV series they made, so voic-actor continuity will merely confuse matters.

I'm with Fronzel when it comes to the new Terra adaptation. As it is, the vast majority of fans of the show were either totally or only passively aware of the existence of the comics before the series came out (not to mention the fans of the comics weren't really the intended audience anyway), so even similar voices are going to weird things out for those coming from the series to the new material.

I've been buying the DVDs of the show (and encouraging my friends to do the same) in the hopes that new Titans material will come out, but my preference is with what was established in the series.

Either way, things are looking good for the Western side of animation - I'd hazard as good as they've been in a large number of years.

Magazine scan spoiler[]

Looks like Madhouse style to me. Great pic IMO. Can't wait for this to come out.

Wow, this should be interesting. And certainly has the staff to make it good as well. I hope they keep it black.

I just hope their Joker is better than the Heath Ledger one. Hell, I'll even take this version of him. Rolling Eyes

Someone who honestly says they hate Ledger's Joker? Wow. i love the raw grittyness of his Joker. A style that hasn't been done.
But yeah, Bruce Timm + I.G. and madHouse!? And as a Batman fan? I'm already sold
