O_O.

I wish it were true...

Hagaren and Darker than BLACK are two series that don't seem to need a sequel... in fact, a sequel would probably be pointless. But at the same time, the characters are great, so I would certainly look forward to it!

In the aspect of a "FMA2"
I would suspect that it WOULD BE a adaption of the manga's storyline.

Think of it as Fullmetal Alchemist Ultimate.
Though it's only my speculation.

Please do not let them do a sequel to Fullmetal Alchemist. They already changed the story too much that they could never do the manga justice and after the movie I really don't want to see them continue with their own story because they probably would just mess that up further too. Don't companies ever know how to let good things rest and not turn everything into a never ending franchise?

While FMA is my most favorite anime of all time, I don't think I'd be happy with more of it being made unless it was a direct adaptation from the manga.

However, in order to do that I think they would have to start over from the beginning, because of all the technicalities of them currently being in Germany, all the Homunculi & their creator being dead, etc.

The question is, would Bones be willing to start FMA from scratch, or will they just come up with a whole new, out-of-thin-air plot to continue from the movie?

It's probably going to go nowhere like Berserk 2 and that Trigun movie.

It's hard to stop when the money is good.

I'm with Kiyoko on this one. While I love Fullmetal Alchemist series to death, I don't really want a continuation unless it's based on the manga. The anime is really finished and if you did anything to it, it would just be too...out of place. The anime is done - let it rest. Though, I wouldn't mind to see some of my favorite manga characters animated. Very Happy

I wouldn't mind seeing FMA Ultimate. Laughing More Darker than Black can't be a bad thing either.

As long as its done well and it makes money for BONES, then go for it. Anime is a business.

There's no reason whatsoever for more Fullmetal Alchemist anime. I loved the series, and somewhat enjoyed the movie, but that's it, the story's over already. I would be disappointed to see that they dragged it out even further. Even if it was sort of a "FMA Ultimate" where they follow the manga more closely, it's still too much. The FMA anime wasn't like the Hellsing one, which derivated far too much and made a mockery of the source material. In fact, in a lot of ways, the FMA television series is an improvement on an often meadering narrative present in the manga.

I may be in the minority here, but preferred the anime over the manga, by a large amount. I would love a sequel, though I doubt it could the series justice. Sequels, however much you like them, kind of ruin the legacy of an anime. Evangelion and its two movies were great, but now they're really milking it.
On another note, I haven't seen Darker than BLACK yet, but I hear it's really good.

A direct FMA manga adaptation would be the best thing ever!
They could use the already made series a little, too, to save time/money... like a remake, but true to the original this time! Very Happy

I agree with MisterEd, I love the FMA anime, but I really couldn't care less about the manga. Still, if they did a FMA Ultimate, I might watch it if it's on TV, but probably wouldn't put any deal of money into it. Honestly, I feel as if the movie hurt the series, so making another sequel is a bad move in my eyes. Can't speak for Darker than Black though.

I honestly think that instead of doing that FMA movie they should have added a few more episodes to the series to resolve it better. The movie was indeed entertaining, but didn't really end the series the way it should have ended (a couple of friends of mine who aren't big anime watchers finished it recently and expressed their major dislike for the ending of the movie). If they're going to add more to FMA, completely disregard the movie and make some OVA episodes that take place after episode 51.

That's what I would want at least, I doubt that's what we'd get. I'll welcome more FMA as long as the story and writing remain strong.

If they made a series that is a lot closer to the manga, then I'd be interested in that as well. I'd much rather watch animation than read a manga.
