If you check the hardware sales, there's a sharp decline in sales for all console, but the Switch 2 is the most noticeable due to price increase, it seems a lot of people bought the console before the increase, that's why in the previous weeks it managed to sell over 200k units.
As for the software, I was kind of surprised that 007: First Light managed to be in second place, but I think James Bond is somewhat popular in Japan, I mean, You Only Live Twice took place and it was actually filmed there, there's been ton of reference to the series in anime since the '60s in anime like Cyborg 009 (heck, there's a direct mention of Connery as Bond in the '60s 009 anime), I think Lupin III borrowed some elements from the early Bond movies, the Daicon III short used a music track fom For Your Eyes Only, and in regards to modern shows, Spy × Family also makes a lot of direct references to JB. They should make an official 007 anime at this point |

Kirin: There's a James Bond, Jr. cartoon that they refuse to re-release.

Wondering what will topple Tomodachi Life. I don't think Star Fox will do it as much as I want to be wrong on that one. Maybe Splatoon Raiders? |

You are aware that James Bond had a manga in Japan (which hasn't seen a western release) released from 1964-1967, and you do know that Takao Saito (yes, the same mangaka who was responsible for creating Golgo 13) was the same author that did the James Bond 007 manga. And oh yeah, I think James Bond was a global pop culture phenomenon (as I recalled 2 documentaries that came with both Goldfinger and Thunderball DVDs/blu-rays that talked about it). That and if you watched or read Spy X Family, then you might have noticed references and nods to James Bond like Bond (Forger's family psychic dog), and even the fictional in-universe TV show, Spy Wars had bunch of James Bond nods in there too. I mean if it wasn't apparent, James Bond references are almost everywhere in Spy X Family. So yeah, that's the impact of James Bond in popular culture and Japan is no exception. Speaking of James Bond manga, I would love to see that manga from Takao Saito get a US release (maybe Dynamite could team up with Seven Seas Entertainment to get that manga an official western release). Also, I would love to see a new James Bond manga (original Japanese or OEL would suffice for me) to be made. There are 2 mangaka artists that could capture James Bond, Tetsuya Endo (Spy X Family), or Naoki Urasawa to do the artwork. That would be something that would get my attention as a long-time Bond 007 fan. |
