Oh great, just what we need. Another stupid Yugioh knockoff to take the place of Bakugan. 50 bucks says this will make it on CN after Bakugan eventually leaves and it gets bashed to hell on Gamefaqs. Yeah, the same fate as Bakugan basically.

I don't know what you all are talking about. It seems to me companies are just going to shows that have proven to give them a return. We've all been asking for this kind of stuff.

I don't think it has to do with kids buying it, but rather that someone is buying it. The internet may scream no, but a buck is worth a thousand hate mails. I am not saying it is a good thing, or will take the medium in which I love in a direction that I like. It's just the hard truth.
To be fair, that just started up. We'll know by next year whether or not it failed or succeeded. |

And I was alluding to the fact that if more people voted with their dollars on so called good anime, then these tired marketing ploys wouldn't be so tired. In other words, if more universally acclaimed anime, got an equally universal ROI, then stuff like this wouldn't have as much appeal. It would be the exception instead of the rule. That's not the way it is so we are all basically asking for this kind of stuff to be made. Perhaps a better adjective would be we're "telling them" to make more anime of this type. |

Dai Sato, a writer for the series, showed some clips from the series at AnimeFest in Dallas and passed around some of the trading cards and a magazine. He described that one of the creators of this game worked on the Magic The Gathering series (the crowd at the panel ooed and awed).
The animation was fluid and it did not have the same feel as a Yugiho. At times it kind of felt like a parody, but that is just the feeling I got from some of the scenes. I have no problem with these shows, Lord knows I watch shows that are selling me Robot toys. Just this one's character designs look rather generic.
Chaotic is the third most popular card game in the US now behind Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, IIRC. Chew on that. |

Hmm, that's a rather chicken and egg question.
Oh, and Magic. Anyhoo, it's all within the context of that question, are we an existing market or do we become the market? Is it really just same old same old and people are falling for that aesthetic difference from otherwise similar kinds of marketing? Eh, shonen sells, so I guess yes. |

Thing is, Chaotic is the youngest of the bunch, and didn't have an installed user base from the start. So seeing it already be at #3 is very good considering it's age. And FYI- The reason why 4Kids lost money last quarter was due to marketing the launch of Chaotic TCG, and keeping it's and their website maintained. |

The TCG market has remained stable in the U.S., despite the weakening economy here, so overall the business is doing pretty good.
On the topic of the show, I like Dinosaur King, so hopefully I'll like this show as well, since Sunrise is also producing it. Unfortunately, Sunrise seems to only want to produce one kids show at a time, which is why Dinosaur King just ended. Battle Spirits will be taking its 7:00 AM timeslot on Sunday mornings. |
