It could be that only one is, but maybe one can't work without the other?

Regardless, I hope whomever the ill one is has a quick recovery.

And also, is it me, or have there been a lot of mangaka becoming ill/injured lately?

I'm more broken up about Katsura Hoshino's hiatus for D. Gray-man, but the Shugo Chara hiatus saddens me as well. I hope they get better soon! Sad

That's sad to hear, but I also hope that it's not anything serious and wish for a speedy recovery. Shugo Chara fast became one of my favorite manga (and anime) series, and Rozen Maiden's awesome in its own right. So hopefully the one that took ill makes a quick recovery and will still be able to continue working on their series.

And this just reminds me that I have to check out Zombie-Loan in the near future Anime smile + sweatdrop

No new Zombie-Loan this coming issue? I was very much looking forward to it. Crying or Very sad The color front page will have to satisfy, I suppose. The article made it sound as if both were in the hospital which seems odd to me. Regardles, I hope for a full and quick recovery and a speedy return to manga drawing.

The authors probably have the flu or a virus of some sort, I doubt their actually going to die. I smell something fishy about this whole sitution though.

Several mangaka have become ill this year, makes me wonder if they are actually ill or if there is some sort of illness in Japan that is going around.

As odd as it sounds, mangaka lead a really high stress lifestyle. Burnout is common; they work themselves to exhaustion, literally.

And the recent lawsuits brought on by manga-ka against their publishers have been shedding more insight to how bad their lifestyle is these days, because of their publishers.

I feel sorry for them, honestly.

Speaking of illnesses, there seems to have been a nasty flu going around in western Canada, as I've had it for 3 weeks. I don't usually get the flu like that, but it got me good :-/
Starting to get better now, finally.

Seems being a mangaka has become more of an occupational hazard lately....

Which tells me that this sudden illness was a sign for the Peach-Pit ladies to take it easy for a while. They had a very hectic year with the controversy involving Rozen Maiden, promoting Shugo Chara, their involvement with the SC anime, and so on. So hopefully when they recover from their illness they can come back stronger.

Maybe someone found out that the girl in SC is also "second hand" and sent them a bunch of hate mail.... *roll eyes*

OK I am just being sarcastic.

Mangaka are people too and they get sick just like we do. I'm just commenting on the recent sickness of Takenashi sensei of Kannagi and how some senseless people immediately jump to conclusion over the recent "second hand controversy" and speculate it's a big cover-up by her editors. Ridiculous. Perhaps when Hoshino-sensei of D.grayman gets sick is because she got too much hate-mail too.

Here's to a speedy recovery for all the mangaka out there.
