Did they ever find out what caused it to suddenly stop and reverse directions? I've heard of escalators just breaking down when there's too much of a load to bear, but reversing makes it sound like someone changed it on purpose.

MM is a nice site, but it is inconvenient as hell to get to from the south side of Tokyo. I went there from Kanagawa once and it's out passed Disneyland... far far far.
