okay...

NOW it's getting ridiculous...

there's no "outbreaks"...it's no worse than normal flu season cases....

isn't time we get over this media hype and just get back to business as usual?

That's a shame, I went to Animazement last year and it was quite friendly and enjoyable. Sad to see so many cancel.

The real problem is not the infection, it's the work schedule due to the checkup process.

A 10 day quarantine isn't worth it financially apparently.

Why would they? They are making easy money on this. Media banks on events like this.

But in all seriousness, just wash your hands with soap and hot water and try to stay away from sick people. That is all you need to stay healthy.

that sucks >_>;

the wife and I were planning to attend and while I enjoy the American attendee's, I always go for our foreign friends. Sadly this will probably mean a no show for two yearly goers *sigh*

The forum title makes it seem like they were attacked by wild boars, which would be a far better reason to miss the con. I'm just going to believe that.

Tom Hanks talked about going to Tokyo for the Angels and Demons premiere and how extreme are the measures Japan is taking. A 10-day quarantine? This confirms what I've been told before: Japan, as a whole, is germophobic and hypochondriac.

To everyone worried about swine flu thanks to 24-hour news shows, I have four words:
BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION

I hate to be like this, but this scare of swine flu has got to stop.

It's annoying and sad to see our guests from Japan cancel their trip...after many months of waiting.
And it's more ridiculous of having the 10-day quarantine when you go or return to Japan. It's making me think how big of a germ freak Japan really is. (sorry to be like that...but it's really ticking me off)

I practically ignore the whole flu thing and went on doing the things I normally do. I wash my hands, cover when I sneeze, have hand wash with me, and drink orange juice daily. So long as I'm alright, then we're all fine. There's really nothing to be all scared over. Any disease can come from almost anywhere. Even the cleanest city can have a germ that's waiting to pop out and spread. I just hope the next time another outbreak happens.....cities and countries grow up. Mad

It's bad enough having to be excited when months later it goes away. But it's far worse to act so extreme with this quarantine crap.
Sorry if I'm offending anyone..but this is my opinion.

And I thought I was going to be the only one seeing this cancelations on the account of swine flu as bullshit. I mean seriously, a 10 quarantine is ridiculous and even though I'm not going to the event I can imagine the disappointment of the people who are going but aren't anymore based on this news. It's really just shame, and very few people are going to forgive this sort of thing.

I'm actually going to AZ so I can say that this really sucks. But apparently a lot of the American guests are helping to find replacement guests which is nice.
And BTW, NC has only 11 confirmed cases of swine flu. I really, REALLY doubt the guests were going to run into any of them.

You do realize that the Swine has actually killed several people already. I really don't blame Japan companies for being cautious, because swine flu can be deadly. I know I sure wouldn't go to Japan right now.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. Japanese are Germ freaks the smallest outbreak and they freaked out. If i remember correctly when the swine flu was hyped up all school were canceled for a whole week. I just feel sorry for the fans.
Also the flu kills 30,000 or so people a year. This has affect what 100 people. Far from a epidemic.

5(!) people have died in the US so far from swine flu. The regular flu kills 36,000 people per year in the US. It's hardly anything to be paranoid about...yet.
