Disappointing, to say the least. It's a shame that none of the storylines in School Rumble ever got a proper resolution. Sad

Here here. San Gakki sucked, to be perfectly honest; though I wonder when Funimation will release it?

Indeed, fairly disappointing. TBH, in terms of closure, I prefer the anime Season 2 ending, even if nothing was wrapped up in it either, it at least felt more like a proper ending than the manga's.

I haven't seen the season two ending yet, but I have seen the manga finale and I completely agree with you.

He still didn't give it a resolution. I don't know if that is the sign of a coward or a bad writer.

Or maybe it was just doing poorly sales-wise? Manga is a business, if a series isn't pulling in enough readers, decisions have to be made. Likewise, if a series is VERY popular, it might go on longer than intended (DBZ, anyone?).

Well, considering that School Rumble Z was even created, I say that the ending to School Rumble wasn't due to sales, but because that was a planned ending. I love Jin's stuff, but I think he needs to learn how to make a proper ending. Maybe he'll get it right with Natsu no Arashi.

do you imagine having star wars without the death star blown up?

or how about an aliens movie where the Alien never gets destroyed?

School rumble suffers of what I called "fear of pissing off the fans"
how do you go from creating a romantic manga with so many teasers that ended up with nobody staying with nobody, isn't that a purpose of the interest of the viewer? to see in what ingenuous ways the main character gets the girl at the end? or the twist?
the ending ruined the whole series to me, and I care little for the school rumble z, this guy promised you a fantastic journey that ended up in the door of your own house, a good ending had to be either tenma chan coupled with karasuma and the other guy with the sister, or tenma chan realizing that he was actually in love of the bearded guy, but if you ask me, Tenma chan was the most stupid little child created on anime, and it was OK for me if she didn't end up with the hige guy (as most of us don't end up with the girls we like from the start) It was okay!! but the fact that everyone had feeling for everyone and nobody took a single step more than "meeting up later like everyone else is a student again"
first time I wanted to read me some hentai doujinshi about these series to make an ending right.

So for me, School rumble was a very nice story premise but the ending makes it worthless, a love story that lacks...love.

So at the end of Jaws, the shark just swim away after his lunch?

Have to agree with what a few others have said.
The whole point of a love story is to see who end up with who, and see them go through the motions as they do so.
School Rumble pretty much copped out, and thus, has no worthwhile conclusion, making it an entertaining yet pointless love story.
Hopefully the author learns from this experience and doesn't do the same with his current manga...

Well, personally my ideal ending would have been Tenma pwning the stockmarket and becoming a bazillionaire and moving into a huge gorgeous house and marrying Harima and having scads of pretty kids and still being close with Yakumo and living an existence of perfect bliss for all her natural lifespan, and then all her UNnatural lifespan as she has herself cryogenically frozen and launched into outer space. But whatever.

As it is, School Rumble's ending kind of gives me Urusei Yatsura flashbacks...
