Ugh. This sucks, I wanted another full fledged TV series and supposedly they have way more than enough material to do so.

Maybe this means, ala MariMite, that we'll get a fourth season after the OVAs?

(I know, a positive comparison between MariMite and Black Lagoon? Probably the only time it'll happen in human history!)

Which is also à la Shana, which is also published by Geneon in Japan (like Marimite and Black Lagoon). So there is certainly some precedence for this sort of thing from this publisher.

Wow, I was just pulling that out of thin air, glad to hear it's within the realm of conceivability!

I find this slightly confusing. What exactly are they going to animate for the OVA?? The only new material from the manga that hasn't been animated is the El Baile de la muerte (Dance of Death) arc which is already about twice as long as Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise was and as far as I know it still hasn't finished yet. I originally thought the whole wait was for the arc to finish up so they could make a full 12 episode season out of just that storyline.

Will they just start the story as an OVA and finish it on TV?? Are they going to make an original anime-only story?? Or maybe they'll adapt the novel in the OVA considering that was where the announcement was originally released?? I'm hoping for the last option since I bought the book but don't know Japanese well enough to read it and haven't found any translations yet. Some of the illustrations look really interesting. Especially Revy in bondage queen gear. Anime hyper

Finally some word on this. It just says that it's an OVA project. It doesn't say how long or how many episodes it'll be (unless OVA project is synonymous for a single episode...). Let's hope they'll be more details soon.

Ahh, I wanted to see another series. Oh well, an OVA for 'BL', interesting. Well, I'm sure the animation will be top notch.

So far there are 8 vols slated. But is that it or are their more chapters waiting to be compiled into future novels?

Well if it's anything like Hellsing Ultimate type of OVA I'll be happy. Provided it doesn't take a year or more for each episode Wink I wonder if it'll be multiple episodes or more of a movie type of thing. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

There are more that haven't been compiled yet. Last I've seen and the last that the Black Lagoon Wikipedia entry was updated there are currently ten chapters beyond where volume 8 stopped. And like I said, they are all part of the current "El Baile de la muerte" arc which is now 31 chapters long compared to "Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise" ending at 16. So if Fujiyama took 6 episodes to animate, El Baile should be able to fill 12 episodes.

Dirty Pair Flash is an OVA and it has 16 episodes. Hell, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is 110 episodes as an OVA. Just saying that OVA doesn't mean 3-4 episodes.
