Personally, if they get a decent casting director and cast based off of how well the voice actor matches the character, then I'll be happy.

If they cast just because some big time voice actor is interested and they do not match the character at all, I will be very upset.

I've been a fan of Hetalia for a long while now, and I will say this. I'd rather have people I know nothing about, but sound really well as the character than having some big time voice actor like VIC MIGNOGNA or any others voice it just because they're popular than the fandom will have major issues and will crumble.

I say, pick a decent cast and do not focus on getting big name people. That way, the Hetalia fans will be happy.

It would actually be a really good idea if all funimation do is just sub the anime and not dub it. That would be the better and safer choice in my personal opinion.

This isn't Hollywood, actors don't get cast simply because "Big Name X is interested in the project."

And this is also Funimation, who have never released a sub-only disc and have publicly announced that they don't intend to.

That's good to know that they wouldn't cast on that basis. At least some of my fears are settled.

Maybe they should experiment sometime with sub-only. It might work to their advantage with some animes.

In that anncast, they didn't deny that sub-only might have been a possibility. It would certainly allow them to crank out more less-than-stellar titles

Really now? I actually would be thrilled if they even considered making it sub-only.

It's true they could put out more titles if they tested their skills with sub-only. They also could probably sell a lot more dvds for less which is good for the fans.

Now I'm not saying this because I personally dislike these shows (I haven't seen them), but why aren't Funi churning out the titles WILL buy???

Haibane Renmei for instance... is SOOO hard to come by!!! GTO needs to be re-released, and Revolutionary Girl Utena!? Ha, ha...

Come on, Funi!!! "Acquire" these titles now! You've surprised every American with FLCL, and you can do it again... in spades!!!

I thought GTO was re-released? I have the collection part 1, and I can't imagine it's that rare right now for the complete set.

Don't get why you'd license this, when Pumpkin Scissors didn't exactly take off here...

Hetalia and Pumpkin Scissors have as much in common as The Sound of Music has with Inglourious Basterds or Valkyrie.

Egan: Then that's even a bigger strike against Hetalia. How many fans buying from FUNimation fit the profile of someone who would watch Sound of Music?

I didn't say that Hetalia is akin to The Sound of Music. The point of the analogy is that all of these titles have very little in common.

But, either way, historical anime is still a niche in the U.S.
