Really odd, to hear about this since I had just watched 3 of the previous Votoms OVAs, Roots of Ambition, The Last Red Shoulder, and Big Battle. Anime exclamation

Good news though for Votoms fans like myself.

This is fantastic news first Phantom arc is announced and now this.
Not sure about that white AT, looks kinda funny, nice they’re trying something new I guess.
I just ordered a Scopedog kit from HLJ, they’re having a sale… coincidence?

Sunrise sees everyone elses moe moe kyun~ girls and raises them even more full on gritty real robot action and gar men. It almost looks like they are trying to snatch up the dissident group of fans who are looking for something different. Best of luck to them in going it their own way again.

I guess when they said, 'Phantom Arc is the last Votoms series' what they really ment was 'The last Votoms series about Chirico Cuvie' cause... holy crap MORE VOTOMS! *does a dance*

EDIT: Oh wait, what's this about Armored Trooper Votoms: Alone Again as another Chirico centered series after Phantom Arc?

Man, I wonder what's got Sunrise so excited about Votoms after all these year all of a sudden.

EDIT2: Looking closer at some of the new Directors/Scriptwriters... I'm being struck with a bit of dread that Sunrise is trying to reinvent the series's tone for more mass appeal.

Such a shame none of the OVAs were ever licensed in R1.

Well, technically the original Series did get the R1 treatment. Through CMP. I'm currently rushing to snap up all 4 volumes before they vanish forever.

But yes, its a crying shame that everything else Votoms related has never made it to R1. From the look of it it seems like general disinterest in 'real robots' outside of Gundam (if that can even be called 'real robots'). Its not like Votoms is trapped in licensing hell like, say, Macross.

I'll pay through the nose for official Votoms releases, even if its just Subbed.

Someone like Discotek maybe, or Media Blasters, should nad these shows. Edit: Or Sentai Film works, they love doing sub only releases.
