Already been there and downloaded the wallpapers! The only reason I haven't preordered yet is because I'm afraid it'll hold up whatever I order it with (gotta hit $49 for free S&H) since it's another month yet to go. Or is RightStuf like Amazon in that they'll ship the in-stock item(s) separately, no charge, instead of holding the entire order up for a month (anyone know)?

Pics, dudes.
We don't just want wallpapers.
I pre-ordered it with the 2nd half of Rental Magica at their sale a month ago so it was $27 per set, making the $49 easily. Rental is reserved already. When I pre-ordered Gravitation from them, some of the dvds shipped a month early.

Yeah, they ship as it comes in. I finally got the last books (All You Need is Love & In the Walnut) off a couple orders I place 2 yrs ago. Right now they're having an in-stock sale, but I'll usually wait until the end of a sale to pick up any late-added titles. I'm pre-ordered into October on Del Rey right now

you can't be serious. This is a flamboyantly homosexual anime/manga. No american voice actor in their right mind would do the voices since in america most people are christian. Of course, I'm only disappointed they aren't releasing a 50 dollar s1+s2 combined blu-ray with lossless audio. That would definitely make it a no brainer. putting 100 dollars into a dvd set of 24 episodes when I can get the same runlength out of the ouran high school host club boxset for 40-60, much like other blu-rays, makes me kind of depressed. I'm glad they licensed such a niche title though. can't wait for volume 12, which amazon is having issues with and delayed my 2 month in advance pre order to ship a week after launch. I got volume 11 on launch day. Sad

All right, sold (also, dang, 2 years!? Even Amazon throws up its hands and cancels after a point). I just have to find something for ~$12-13 to throw in there now. (*And it's done-- see the last edit at the bottom of my post)

Honestly? Not one bit, but that's just me who vastly prefers subs. Beyond my personal preference though, I would just kind of assume that most BL titles, niche as they are, will not be dubbed. I don't think Sukisho!! and Gakuen Heaven were (yes, I have the official DVDs but I've never watched them... Shocked ) and none of my BL OVAs are either (Kizuna, Sensitive Pornograph, Level C) so it seems like it's kinda par for the course at this point.

Edit:

Actually, I bet most English VAs would do almost anything you hire them to do but my impression is that it's not getting dubbed because it's a very niche title and it wouldn't be cost effective (and, as I've said elsewhere, I think a lot of BL fans tend to be fans of the Japanese seiyuu-- from dramas CDs and the like-- and are less interested in English VAs generally). I don't think it has anything to do with homophobia myself; a lot of non-BL titles are getting sub-only releases too (Emma was a popular recent example).

Edit2: Oh! *smacks forehead* The All You Need Is Love novel(s) are finally available!? Now I know what to add to my Junjou order (thanks for reminding me I was waiting for those CCSYueh!).

Thats what I was thinking and times are changing so why not?

But isn't the industry suffering already from loss of discs sales to people just downloading?

Why release a product that your consumers can get for free? Why not go that extra mile (a dub) and make it (alright for some fans) worth spending money for.

Or is the industry biding its time to see how popular it'll be then come out with a dub? If that were the case I would buy it.

In the Walnut was much better than I expected it to be. I thought the delay might have been because DMP didn't have faith in it, but it was different from the schoolboy/college or officeworker stuff we see so often.

Guys seem to have issues with yaoi. I've heard rather disparaging remarks from more than a few American VA's at con or in dvd commentaries. Granted, they're no worse than the random board comment one sees, but I really do wonder if they could pull it off. ADV cast a chick over Nobuo Tobita for Kimera's dub. I'd be worried one would get the overplayed hentai acting.

TRSI cancels when they get actual word from the company or from the purchaser to cancel. They cancelled several TP titles once they were officially pronounced dead, not to mention all the Geneon titles back when.

Blu-Ray is pushing it a bit for these titles. I'm just glad to get them. I second the idea most of the US fans of BL are more interested in hearing the Japanese VA's than whatever random American VA may be cast. The Japanese Va's are typecast in roles to a certain extent. American dub cast seems more whoever's a regular at the studio that licensed the title.
If you're willing to wait, I have no doubt you will eventually get it in a single box for a decent price. I'm willing to spring $54 for 1 season (box 1 & box 2). I know I've waited yrs, but I finally bought Aquarion for $16 (it was originally a pretty expensive half-season boxes show)

And there you have the commercial aspect of the dub/sub argument.

For whatever reason, BL anime adaptations are much rarer (& therefore more niche) than BL manga and it's just not worth a company's money to dub what few titles come out. It seems that those of us who don't care (or outright prefer subs) outnumber the "no-dub-no-buy" faction, at least in BL-fandom, so I guess what it comes down to is what quality you as a fan value more: The BL story or the English dub. Frankly, I've already seen both seasons of JR in fansubs so I'm buying just basically to support & encourage more actual BL title adaptations (i.e. not just shonen series' teasing or merely bishonen-heavy stuff) being made & licensed because I generally enjoy said material. That's about it. Money does talk, like it or not, so I'd like my small bit to have its say at least. The fact that it's a straight-up BL story is 100x more relevant to me than the fact that it's not dubbed (though, as I said, I'm a sub-fan so take that into consideration). And if my buying the sub-only stuff helps finance a future dub release, great. Though from one BL-fan to another I wouldn't hold my breath because that doesn't seem to be the way the wind is blowing, if you know what I mean.

Eh, really? Just as well they stay the h*ll out of it then. Don't need their attitude messing up something I could otherwise enjoy.

Any professional actor would just do their profession and act. It's acting, not real.

I would think that it would depend on what looks good on their resume. If it looks bad, then I would think that they would pass on it.

Just to chime in on Romantica's dub discussion... Would I have enjoyed an English dub? Absolutely. Did I expect one? Nope. Because, as others have said, this is a niche title and RightStuf has managed to stay in business as long as it has by releasing high quality sub-only DVDs for their niche releases. So it's all kosher with me. I'm just happy to be getting it.

And while some of the more conservative actors (down in Texas, for example) may have issues with homosexuality - and that's a darn shame, we could use a little less intolerance in fandom - most in the acting community are very accepting, and taking on a homosexual role wouldn't do anything to damage an actor's resume.

I personally wouldve loved to see a dub but the subs are good too. Did everyone forget that Gravitation was dubbed by Right Stuf so that's one BL anime that was dubbed. I hope Antique Bakery gets a dub.

Same thoughts here. When they released the Toward the Terra film I was happy just because it was actually getting released in the US (although Bandai not dubbing the series remake made me feel a bit dissapointed).
I'm not a fan of Romantica, but I'm excitedly waiting for their release of Antique. Wink
