Four weeks after debuting on March 12, the first volume of the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime series still sold 9,000 Blu-ray Discs to return to #1. As of April 11, the Oricon survey firm reports that this volume sold a total of 7,800 copies.

I think you mean 78000 copies.

78,000 x $51.11 = $3,986,580

Not bad, and that is just the Blu-rays.

Heh, CDJapan says they only have 17 left.

Now if only NA could get up to those numbers, even at reduced prices that would be really something. Think the last time that happened was when the first Appleseed movie came out.

It is indeed both however it costs more then 400$ for the whole set and I don't know if there is even subtitles on it.

I would say we could hope for a US release but I find it pretty unlikely.

You're not missing out on the ROD blu-ray set. It's an upscale, the OVA looks downright bad and the TV series looks OK. The packaging is nice, but that's about it.

Do you have a source you go to to compare screenshots or something? I've been trying to find a site that compares anime blu ray and dvd screenshots side by side, but can't find one. Where do you go to learn this stuff. You just always seem to be on top of this stuff.

Idk but I don't care. I'd like R.O.D -The Complete- Blu-ray Box #4 (Complete Limited Pressing) anyway.

ROD Blu-ray screenshots

Can't think of any one site, though the one I linked to often has screenshots. The Anime on DVD Blu-ray forum is also good. I keep track because I buy. Japanese releases are expensive already. Don't really want to buy expensive and crappy.

I don't trust those screens AT ALL.

Being that I own the R1 release of R.O.D The TV and watching it on PS3 makes it look 10 times better then those screens. Even Upscales look better then the original DVD and those screens look horrible. I gotta think that whoever took those caps had no idea what they were doing and hence the quality came out really bad.

Taking screenshots isn't rocket science. It's been several weeks since the release date. If the screenshots were so far off, someone would have said (and shown) something otherwise. Besides, there are rips of the blu-rays floating around. Look for yourself. The OVA is nearly a decade old, and all digital productions from that time tend to look rather decrepit now. The TV series is a few years younger, and looks better, but it's not anything special. I'm quite fine sticking with the DVDs.

And as for upscales looking better, theoretically yes. But in practice, their have been bad upscales here and in Japan.

Upscales can sometimes look worse than the DVDs. Funimation's Blu-ray of Samurai Champloo is a perfect example of that. The Geneon DVDs have superior video quality because Funi filtered the hell out of the Blu-ray so it looks like ass. The Geneon DVDs were top notch for video quality too though.

The list is missing Kiddie Girl-And at #6 - see the Phileweb link. Somehow there's no picture, so maybe that's why it got overlooked. Anyway, that's pretty healthly sales for a show that gets very little love outside of Japan.
