Fast-moving, dense and intelligent; greatly improved character dynamics; neither plot nor characters are allowed to grow complacent.

Honestly, all I remember regarding the character dynamics of season 2 were the various couples screaming each others names over and over, Princess Whatshername annoying the hell out of me with her hippy bs, and last but not least spoiler[Saji Crossroad finally manning up]. The latter was greatly appreciated.

A B+ for this heap of disappointing and messy faecal matter? Wow. I'd say something cliche like "Did we watch the same show?", but I've given up trying to expect you to see reason.

Speaking of Code Geass R2... when're you guys gonna review it???

I mean, we ALL know how good it is, but when are we going to see some written proof of it?
Is Gundam that much easier to talk about?

And I agree with you on how it's not as emotional as SEED/Destiny, it's because it's SOOO similiar to Wing that I haven't persisted as much as I could've.
Carl pretty much said it: Pure Entertainment.

Nothing more really...

Gundam Seed didn't have "emotional heights", it had bland, forced nonsense drama undersold by a bad script, awful animation and bad voice acting. Gundam 00 is running with more emotional charge to it than anything in CE era Gundam, and better at handling at it.

It's easier to see the cracks in Gundam 00's second season than in the first, especially later on, but the show is fairly solid overall. It just suffers from the studio trying to cram too much into the second half without spacing it out throughout the series. The problem is poor planning. But I love the characters and concepts and find it one of the more enjoyable non-UC Gundam anime.

Whoa okay, slow down buddy, you'll get your turn. We're talking about Gundam 00 right now.

For once, I managed to "pre-view" a series now released over here on DVD. I did enjoy the second season/half of Gundam 00; for me, I think it was helped by its first half setting up the characters. So far as the great game of "viewing this latest outing in the light of all the rest of the franchise" goes, I did find myself starting to think of Zeta Gundam so far as "the characters are now battling a world order gone evil" goes, but I have to admit that for me, with some of the characters from before now on the side of the bad guys, that added some interest to to the story I found missing from Zeta. (So far as making that admission goes, though, I can at least contemplate how some never miss a chance to say how much they disliked the Seed subfranchise...)

Ooooh look, another case of the sub getting a higher rating than the dub, this time for being "low tension". Heh.

Anyway, Bandai is killing me with these dvds. I'm not paying for dvds when I know there are blu rays in Japan. *sigh*

Oh look, another Sunrise mecha thread with the same people making the same complaints. There should be some sort of selective blocking where you block certain members out of any thread that contains the words 'Gundam' or 'Geass'.

Great review, although the series does start to fall apart a bit after this. I seriously gotta start checking out the older Gundam series on Crunchyroll

Care to elaborate, or are you content to just have a drive-by argument?

There's no point in having an argument with a reviewer who almost never deigns to post in the discussion threads. It's like arguing with a wall, both in the difficulty of getting a reply and the intelligence of the other party.

There's also no point in reiterating the same old points over and over again. That's what old people do, and I'm not old enough to draw a pension yet.

This was a solid review that hits all the right notes about character development, the plot, and the way that each episode makes you want to come back. I'd grade the plot and animation about a half grade higher, but that's just a nitpick. This is a very fair and capable take on things.

In regard to Tieria, it's not so easy to see with the episodes on this disc but his character will show a lot of growth throughout season two compared to how he was in season one. I'll be interested to see what Carl thinks of him in future reviews.

I sadly have to agree that the dub isn't its strongest point. It's a giant leap ahead of, say, the Gundam Seed dub, but it definitely ranges from acceptable to good instead of great and that's really a shame. Gundam Unicorn is proof, I think, that future Gundam series would be well served to move on from Ocean Group.

I'm definitely looking forward to renting this when Part 2 comes out later this year. Gundam 00 was a fantastic series, but I kept missing out on good opportunities to catch Gundam 00 Second Season (lost cable right before it aired on Sci-Fi Channel, Bandai/Sunrise never adding it to Crunchyroll, etc.). It's nice to finally see Bandai getting this out on DVD. Very Happy

saw the review really more like some think 00 is flop.

give compare to the GS series that in world of GS has more drama, feelings, emotions, characters focus, etc.

while 00 there been lots of trust-truth issues, jumping the gun, etc give i still don't like idea of split the series into 2 sets of 25eps bad move.

give on english audio it get bit better improve like on saji on 2nd half, have barbie/louise (can't resist give it voice of barbie) goes cray/mental, etc.

& yet i watch to hear more of Chantal Strand's voice really she sounded more a main lead type voice right now.

So Carl's dumb because he doesn't want to fight about his opinion with you?

I think you've done very well to show you aren't really worth arguing with in the first place because you just can't help being mean-spirited and insulting (as we see right here), much less for someone who purposefully avoids the forums.
