I wish people would start buying more comics. It's really annoying how bad the industry is getting- not only there, but in the US too.
Comics are life, buy them people! (Buy Manga.) |

They're talking about MANHWA guys, not manga.
I'm pretty sure you're doing your part for manga, not manhwa. I rarely see people reading manhwa in my life. They seem to not have much of a crowd. |

I've read several manhwa titles but it just doesn't interest me as much as manga. Maybe I should be the Ragnarok series to re-read it.

I wish more manhwa was brought over. Currently, it's mostly romance, many of which I've heard aren't that great. Apparently, Raiders is pretty good, and I can say without a doubt that Laon is the most enjoyable of the manhwa I've read. Jack Frost isn't bad, either.

From what I see there are two sorts of manga readers: Crowd One doesn't care where the comics they're reading originate from (these are the ones who also buy OEL comics) and Crowd Two are the Japanphile purist who only tend to read stuff from Japan. I've got to hand it to Yen Press, they're awesome. I had only bought a few Manhwa titles previously (I.N.V.U., Queen's Knight, Tarot Cafe, all Tokyopop) but since they showed up I'm trying more Manhwa than ever, and pre-ordering the latest Pig Bride, a weird little title I for some reason love. Yen Press seems to be trying to get its readers into the mindset that it doesn't matter what country of origin the comic is from with a great mix of OEL, mahnwa, and manga, and I love them to death for it. I feel like I'm not acknowledging Tokyopop's hand in this, but I suppose it was Yen Press's magazine that featured all three types that actually got me to try out titles I'd otherwise not give a second glance to. Just goes to show that comic magazines really are a great way to stir interest up in new titles, it's just a shame they can't stay around for long here. |

I agree. I've been following Pig Bride, Jack Frost and Maximum Ride, a story by James Patterson with art by NaRae Lee, a Korean. In my opinion, good comics don't have to come from Japan. There is some pretty decent MANWHA, and I hope they can survive. I will miss Yen+, as it is considerably less likely that I will follow them in their online format, rather than print. |

Here's a sad fact: People will not appreciate what they enjoy until it disappears. Wait until there is barely any comics or animations left, then they'll feel the loss.

I enjoyed phantom, and there were a few other korean comics that I liked, sadly I cant find phantom anywhere so I can finish off the series, I did see one of the comics last week at anime central though. I never really buy that many comics though despite my name being manga1. It was an easy name to pick so I did.
I think the problem is people always want something for nothing unless it is soo superspecial that they are the only ones that can get it for money. signed manga1 |
