Are you in elementary school or something? Boys dressing as girls have a long history. It goes way back to hundreds of years ago. In other words, "drag queens". And this isn't the first time it's been done in anime. Look up "Princess Princess", produced by Studio Deen.

You comparing it to dressing like animals is an insult to the drag community. Grow up.

I think Brand was joking, but He/she is entitled by freedom of speech to voice their opinion whether or not you/anyone agrees with it. What you say is true about history... Boys being forced by family to dress as a girl or vice versa. But that doesn't make it morally right. From what psychologists/therapists say, it makes the person mentally confuse about their gender.

Anyway, the title gives away why Google probably removed the site.

Sorry, I can't ignore this-- there's a huge difference between regular transvestism and a child being forced to crossdress against their will. I don't know much about this show but I'm fairly confident it's more the former case than the latter.

I highly doubt it. "Boys in Skirts" is hardly a radical phrase compared to a million other subjects you can look up on Google. I'm guessing the site was removed by the owners (not Google) because they weren't ready to go public with the news yet.

Funny how you joined ANN just to reply to my post and defend that person. Are you "Brand" himself?

And of course he is entitled to his "opinion", but I'm also entitled to my opinion for calling someone out for being insulting and offensive.

LOL. You must know nothing about Google or the internet (Go educate yourself more on the internet). Google can't delete a website off the internet. However, it does have the ability to delete the site off their search engines. In this case, it was the owner of the site who deleted it (maybe the info was not supposed to leak).

You need to read the whole article before responding next time.

The quality of this will depend on how the whole "boys in skirts" thing is handled. Currently, I'm leaning towards them just milking it to death for gags and whatnot. I can imagine the guys not being portrayed with any sense of realism; one-note 'OMG he's wearing a skirt' characters.

Of course, maybe they'll prove me wrong. Maybe they'll show them acting realistically and (hopefully) they'll have chosen to wear skirts themselves without outside pressure/laws. And, if there is outside pressure, show how that affects them and how they feel about not having a choice in the matter. Not make it some running gag where people just laugh over the issue.

I doubt Google removed it from the engine because of the name. It's rather clean if you ask me. I'm fairly certain that there are worse phrases related to the same general subject matter that you can find on Google.

Your gender isn't defined by the clothes you wear.

I know 4chan will be all over this. I'm glad crossdressing is the thing in anime now but I hope the characters aren't over-sexualized and vapid.

I'm not so sure this is just for girls- traps seem pretty popular with guys too.

Based on previous comments I've made in other threads, I bet a few users would guess this is something that's right up my alley as far as interests go. I know a couple other forum members who might be excited about this show.

I was looking for a copy of Vol. 1 of Waai! at AnimeExpo and everyone I asked gave me a weird look and/or said they didn't have it. Which means they were aware of the publication but didn't think it would have enough of an audience stateside to be worth offering copies at their booths (fearing no one would buy them). That disappointed me.

I think the fan following towards it involves both prevalence of crossdressing historically in anime (as others have suggested), as well as being a very new development in fandom. This is evidenced by the fact that rather than jumping directly into a show about boys in skirts, they released a magazine first focusing on it which is less of an investment. Then it proved moderately successful so now we're seeing a show catering specifically to that fanbase. I wouldn't say that was the intent with Princess Princess but that title is more of a stepping stone to what we have now, because it was rather light hearted and more parody oriented. So I predict MeO will have a serious side to it in exploring the culture (if it is done well) as well as having humor and gag elements.

I believe I saw this magazine on Jlist and did a spit-take. Ah yes:

Now much as I adore POP, traps are not my thing.

Crossdressing, along with transgender/sexual activity goes a long ways back in Japan (1000 years), and even further back in Greece, Scythia, Sumeria.
