Guess I will not be getting one of these after all but still a great review! Initially I was very tempted to get this one because it just looked so irresistibly adorable in that scratch behind the ear pose.

I'm not a huge fan of Zoids but have a motorized unicorn pegasus hybrid Zoid from back in the day. While the motor probably doesn't work anymore the toy is still an awesome piece of work.

David, you need to find better places to buy this stuff if you spent $80 on that lol

http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=TOY-RBT-1188&template=default/product/e_display.html

That's about $43 before shipping, and if you choose SAL shipping, the cheapest, it won't be more than around $7

http://www.otacute.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_11&products_id=6607

Even cheaper, though already on back-order, but a pre-order would have been a great deal.

Wasn't impressed with the Liger, but headed over to HLJ and saw the Geno Breaker they will release later this month... You should really review that, since it has way more going for it. Plus it's great to get a review before I buy something. If only I could get them to make a Berserk Fury.

Also, if I remember right, the tail on the Blade (and shield) Liger didn't serve as a weapon. The Liger X, on the other hand, had a gun built into it. *shrugs* Just an FYI.

I agree AmiAmi is awesome, I get nearly all my stash from them but I think this Revoltech Zoid is the exception. Problem is the box is huge and this person had to go with EMS shipping:

It's still cheaper than the $80 + shipping but I personally cannot fork over that much for a poseable figure. Anime hyper

As I said in the article, I bought the toy from Amiami, and I had it shipped EMS, which brought it to $80. SAL is certainly cheap, and you get the toy eventually, but you don't know when. That's fine if you don't care when it shows up (three weeks to a month, in my experience), but it's out of the question for a regular column like this one.

If you're buying from Japan and you want it within a reasonable amount of time, you're getting hit with that shipping cost. Sad fact.

If you want those Revoltech Pliers, don't care about Zoids, and really, really like Evangelion, you're in luck: On October 15th, they're releasing a box set with EVA 00, 01, 02, and 03 from the rebuild movies with a metallic paint finish, and it includes a pair of Revolpliers.

As far as I know, this and the Zoids are the only not-limited releases that include the thing.

It looks like for some short amount of time, Hobby Link Japan was selling them on their own, but I guess they went fast.

Yikes! That does seem kind of pricey. I have my local convention coming up this week so, I'm gonna have to do some comparative pricing on this one. Don't know that I can justify spending that much for this fig as I just got a Revoltech Gamera for around $40.

Sorry about that I stopped reading after the review part, my bad. And certainly as a column I can understand that SAL isn't really an option for you.

Are Revoltech modal kits easy to put together? I've never been good with modals.

Hey Very Happy

Well firstly, Zoids Chaotic century is the reason I got into anime, it was like an addiction from the age of 5, has it really been 10 years! Thank you for giving the Blade Liger some love in such a great review. However I can't help but say, that Blade Liger model sucks, yikes! I have one from about 9 years ago, (missing a blade, but still great), it cost me £19.99 from my local toy store, it moves, and came with tiny little models of the main characters. Since it was 9 years ago, I was a little too young to consider keeping the box so I'm afraid I don't know any of the details about it, but I remember it came in individual bits and had to be built from scratch. Quite a feat for a 6 year old!

Zoids are obscure in the US? After three anime series on Cartoon Network (one canceled for unconfirmed reasons) and on VHS/DVD shelves, some manga series, some video games, and HUGE toy aisle presence that rivaled just about everything in both bulk and price points (including several later kits Hasbro released before Tomy) is it really that obscure? I'd say it's about as obscure as Beyblade anyway.

Anyway, AmiAmi has pretty much replaced HLJ as my default place to go for Japanese figures. Better prices and the same shipping costs make them a no brainer for me. I've only ever used SAL for imports (since around 2000) because I'm patient and would rather spend the money on more figures and I don't think I've ever waited more than 3 weeks for a package and have never lost one. Only thing I don't like about AmiAmi is not being able to check my preorders like at HLJ, but it can be done easily by checking my email.

Revoltechs aren't models, they're action figures. This just happens to be an action figure based on a model.

Is that anywhere? Like, say, California? I checked out there site, and they seem to have good prices (sometimes great prices), but I can't get a shipping estimate without going through signing up, and I don't want to make an account unless I'm going to buy something.

Also, is $7 a good estimate for an average sized figure box?
