It's sad that you can tell that they really tried to make Shippuden fillers different but mixing in bits of canon & filler together. The only problem is that they always start out promising, but then it always goes from decent to bad after only a few episodes.
Also, why can't Viz stay consistent with the packaging for anything that they do? Shippuden Sets 1-4 look the same and now this one looks completely different. It's just like how Bleach changed it's packaging style not once, but twice. |

Naruto has lost its momentum in North America. None of the boys I know follow it as closely as they once were.

When I was originally watching this, I thought this was the first point that the series got consistently watchable. Sure, there was ep. 26 and Masahiko Murata's eps, but they weren't enough to offset the terrible pacing they decided on having for the first two arcs. Though, I honestly didn't think the first two arcs were that great even in the manga, so maybe it was for the best considering how it played out in the following arcs.
After this arc, there's no unbearable slog in the canon parts since they decided to place the filler in-between arcs and the animation gets a bit of boost too (though it naturally still has its poor moments). |

I wouldn't say that at all, I know a lot of guys who told me that they are huge fans of Naruto and they always watch it on Hulu and whatnot. This is coming from people who I wouldn't even expect to watch Naruto, let alone anime in general. Just because Naruto is no longer on basic cable, or around you much these days, doesn't mean that it lost all of it's popularity. |

You cant be susprised. One major mistake was giving the broadcast rights to disney and not keeping it on CN all in an effort to "taget the teenage boys demograph " when the original was doing just fine on CN. They should have did shippuden on CN right after the original ended. The guys in charge of Viz are making business decisions that we would expect from 4 kids & Nelvana and not from a professional company. The next one was not releasing these box sets sooner instead of those single DVDs. Heck I would not have minded them doing a Media Blasters and release the 13 ep box set with eng subs only and release a full uncut english dub in a full season box set. It's like i said before , I'm not susprised it has lost it momentum and viz have no one but themselves to blame. |

Indeed, CN back then were really on "anti-showing" anime. The days when Pokemon came on 6am on a death slot and not really showing any new anime for kids. Was silly for them not to keep Naruto Shippuden or go for Dragon Ball Z Kai since the shows before them made huge ratings for the network. Decisions have to have come from someone who didn't really like the idea of licensing anime on the network alot. Not to mention it was a time when they showed more live-action than actual animation programs...
