I'm probabably mistaken, but is that Daniel Clowes? If so, thumbs up! His comics are awesome.
Totally siding with the con attendees - Nina is being a huge jerk.
Edit: Oh duh, didn't notice Enid and Becca standing right next to him.

You have to admit though, that last comic Nina picked up sure was pretty over the top though. This coming from a person who has seen some pretty "out there" comics as well.

But it's probably best just to say that only with friends (and not publicly usually) and or just to your self. What I do when I see a manga that is pretty wacked out (which happened yesterday in fact) is I first question why I read that and then stop reading it.

Dude, it's R. Crumb. You don't wander into an indie comic convention and start bashing R. Crumb. That's a surefire way to get a broken nose, or worse. He's a legend in the underground comic world.

Nina kind of comes off as a troll. She basically goes to an indie convention is fairly loud, and then tries to defend herself with "I like comics", which is never believable.

Brilliant, as always. Smile

If Nina gets arrested for "lolicon possession," perhaps there could be a pedo in the background kidnapping, raping and murdering a child while the moralistic Puritanical prosecutors waste time on Nina.

Well, I admit, some of those indy comics don't work for me either, but I would never demean others around me just because I don't like them... It's no different then how some people have the wrong idea about manga and anime, then feel they have the right to insult the culture OR us simply because they don't "get it".

I have a friend who's into some indy comics but he knows I'm not into them... and he knows I'm into Manga and Anime but he doesn't "get it", but we respect each other & try to keep a open mind and never force our views onto one another.

Bottom line, they're not for me... but if other people like them, "knock yourself out"...... Wink .

I think that is also 'Weird Al' from Ghost World there too.

And yeah, he is pretty awesome. I actually met him and got a couple books signed when he had a talk in Harvard Square for his new book Wilson. Really nice guy, which makes the whole joke funnier.

Yes. Because manga is always so chaste and tasteful... Wink

No, I mean THOSE comics were disgusting. The one with the decomposing deer, and the fat ugly woman.

Yeeeaaah, saw that one coming. Yes those indie comics were really weird but seriously Nina, neeeeever base a comic in front of it's fans unless you can make a really good argument for doing so. Actually, she seems a little more immature than usual in these past few comics, guess that's a leftover effect from her cabin fever earlier?

I think it's an after-effect of too many anime cons. It's culture shock.
