Seriously? Are these the same women that think a distraught kid is worse as a upper class man (woman I guess in this case) than Frieza?
Not that there is anything wrong with this list, but I expected the list to be some what different. |

Neither list includes a Miyazaki film. I speculated when the men's list came out that perhaps we'd see something from Ghibli in the ladies' list. It seems unlikely, given their enormous popularity, that a film like Spirited Away wouldn't make the top five on either list. Maybe films weren't among the choices offered by the survey?

I'm aware it hasn't got the same level of mainstream popularity, but I'm disappointed that Cardcaptor Sakura didn't make the list.

Very pleased to see Slam Dunk on the list. It has all the right themes and is truely an anime/manga that inspires you. A little disappointed that One Piece wasn't on it though, oh well.

I too was disappointed that One Piece wasn't the list and neither was Dragon Ball Z. I know if it were me, I pick DBZ and One Piece, with DBZ first and One Piece next. It's better to expose the next generation to older anime (though One Piece isn't that old. At least to my standards) so that they can see how far anime has evolved and how it's changed (for better and as a given, worse) over the decades. Might stimulate a appreciation of anime with the next generation But I have to wonder though, did these women who voted for Slam Dunk ever actually read and watch the show (more than two episodes/chapters) or did they vote for the series simply because of the character's looks? I read and head in person that there are some people will only watch and read a series if the character's are "cool" looking or otherwise drawn to their liking. Not trying to bash anyone here or anything, but I am just repeating what I've noticed through out the years. |

If my kids would turn as I used to be as a kid I would keep them in solid fortress for their and world's safety. |

Your probably weren't as bad as some of the kids now and days. Kids these days are probably worse now and days. |

Worse? My sibling's classmates share time between school and hobby, learn languages and win competitions. When I was in their age my favourite plays were exploring cellars (most of them locked before WWII), I had a playhouse in old ruin, lockout on the empty bank of the river, I used to walk to my friend on the roof, climbing threes like a squirrel, scathing snakes by the lake and did all those bad things that would made my mother's hair white. I guess that my guard angel had to got a prize that I survived childhood.

He probably means mentally. Back then we mostly did pranks physically and had our bodies at risk, but kids nowadays are all over the Internet and crap and seem to be bordering mental breakdown.
Or is it because I've seen too much Hell Girl for the past few days?

Correct. Would have answered earlier, but got really busy today. Like Egoist, back then, we did pranks physically and for the most part, held our bodies at risk. But back in those days, we weren't on the internet that much (in my case, hardly at all due to it wasn't invented until the late 90's.) but it wasn't nearly as bad as it is now days. Just recently while I was watching Fox Ten news (which straight up, isn't always news sometimes) and apparently, some school districts are debating wherever teachers should carry guns on themselves or not. Now it's one thing it's a college professors (i.e. Virgina Tech, which was very sad and I still feel bad for those people even today) but high school, junior high and elementary schools? But alas, times have changed and some for the better and some for the worst. The internet was easily the greatest creation since the invention of the light bulb, but like every situation in life, it has also had it's fair share of negatives as well. |

I don't get the Slam Dunk thing.
The basic moral of the story is "a six foot four guy with big hands can become a decent basketball player." Considering that being 6'4" in Japan is like being 6'8" here...that's kind of like saying "with huge amounts of genetic talent, luck, an environment of high-level competition, and a load of expensive coaching, you might be able to become a decent college athlete and at that point will have a 1% shot at becoming a pro player." |
