Looks like something created possibly to compete directly with Danny Choo's Culture Japan show. The expat pop capitalist made good off of showcasing otaku culture in a series of documentaries, something the Japanese themselves apparently did not even think of, or didn't anticipate it would be successful. Danny Choo has proven it is within reason, so the Japanese are taking the clue and running with it. One downside to this competitive progression of ideas leading to TV shows in themselves; are all these really just extravagant infomercials for self gain?

I credit Danny Choo for his initiative and honest intentions to put the otaku culture in a positive light, but also criticize his show as having an agenda to promote his own ego and status as an expert in otaku culture. In the spirit of capitalism he's doing nothing wrong but many have complained his methods are a bit underhanded. This is nothing new in the world of entrepreneurship but neither is the likelihood that someone else out there is going to try to do it better and steal your customers in the process.
