This, thankfully, happy ending story is going to be immortalized for years to come. Cool

Wow, A whiff of ugly real world. Of course, what happened to Bamboo is unfortunate, but at least it ended happily.

I think we take a lesson or two from Bamboo's ordeal.

Woah! I never expected to read something like this on ANN today. I actually felt as if I was there as it was all unraveling. It was a pretty exhilarating story. Glad you got your stuff back, Bamboo. Plus, you got a pretty kick-ass story out of it as well.

When our instincts tell us that something is not right in situations like this, most of us would rather take the risk and ignore our instincts than end up hurting someone's feelings.

As a person that has been living in this city for my entire life, I would like to say sorry, ill tell you strait up that Chicago is not a city like that, at least not all the time.
Our cops are one of the best, glad you got to see them in action AND everything turning out ok. I am also glad that those crazies did not have a weapon, because instead of watching a bunch of addicts get their asses busted, you could have really gotten hurt. Or for a more psychological trauma, you could have seen a totally hilarious busting turn into a bunch of cops pumping their rounds into a bunch of junkies.
But alls well ends well.
I would like to point out though that for epic deep dish, you should have gone to ginos east. If and when you ever do come around to it, get the crumbled sausage and our version of the meat lovers.

Yeah, was that a crazy night or what? I'm glad to see this has been forever immortalized in your con coverage, as it really is a con story for the ages, and I can be forever remembered for my role as "the guy who stayed behind to make sure the rest of our stuff didn't get stolen" and "the guy who brought you your jacket so you could give your statement to the cops in the 40 degree cold." Heh.

More importantly, though, I'm just glad that everything worked out, that you got all your stuff back, that nobody got hurt, and that justice was served. What a night.

Over the span of three days, I managed to eat pizza three times-- Pizzeria Due, Giordano's, and Exchequer. I wanted to go to Gino's, too, but by then, I was pretty much over pizza. Next time, though!

Convention stories tend to start out the same way: “So this one time, I was out drinking with my friends…” This particular story is no exception, only it involved a couple of beers and some deep dish pizza—and ends with pickpocketers, a foot chase, two awesome cops, and four packets of heroin
.

Best. Opening. For. A. Con. Report - Evar.

Hilarious story, Bamboo and I'm glad you got your stuff back and nobody was hurt.

Oh and this:

I myself was excited to tell my friends about this minor disturbance, since, living in Orange County, we rarely get any excitement in restaurants beyond an indignant customer discovering that their chicken was not free-range.

heh, you said pickpockets... and I thought oh, bummer but no biggie, but the heroin? Um, hello, gritty ugly real life. Glad we didn't have to hear anything more unfortunate in the details.

I will comment that as a con vetran, you should know better than to not listen to your instincts, though. You'se gonna have to train up, grasshopper!

There are worse things than being pizza'd out, certainly. Thanks for all the writing Wink

Oh yeah, just remembered one of my favorite details that didn't make it in the article. That 10% off coupon mentioned in the third paragraph? I had handed it to the cops so that they could record the address of where the crime had occurred. After all was said and done, we all got back to the Exchequer, sat down, and started to drink our beers and calm down from the crazy experience when Bamboo said, "At least we have that 10% off coupon!" To which I said, "Um, actually, the cop never gave it back to me." Laughing I mean, the restaurant was nice enough to knock off that 10% plus some, but still, it was pretty hilarious that as awful as that entire exchange could have ended up, the only thing we really lost was the coupon for our dinner.

Well that was exciting. I'm glad you're safe because that could've ended horribly in many different degrees.
