Of the manga listed the only one I have ever even heard of is Aki Sora(and even that I know very little about). Depending on how that manga is done would be how my view on that would be.(most not making sentence ever!!! I r winnar)

What I mean by that is if the story is told from a very realistic stand point(such as something like say Koi Kaze) and not just for straight up perversion then maybe they should think a bit better before banning it. But if it IS just for titillation then yeah perhaps it's not really all that needed.

Oku-sama wa Shōgakusei ..... Dear god, this WASN'T restricted to 18+ before!?!? WHY DOES THIS EXIST?!??!

The rest of these, though.... I don't see why they couldn't just be 16+. I'm also surprised to see only one sibling romance in this list, as well.

Eh, if teens want these manga, though, they'll probably just get their 18+ friends to buy the manga for them.

Also, Anime hyper sex in school.... like it's gonna stop just because the manga/anime's been "taken away".

No scandal here so far. And there won't be one contrary to people's fears if this is about as far as it goes.

Most of those make sense. But since when is "sex in school" considered harmful? I mean, it's probably not the best idea, but... Anime hyper

It seems pretty arbitrary next to rape and incest, you gotta admit.

Wait, one of them is being removed only because the characters have sex in a school building? I mean, maybe it's different in Japan but kids in the US have thought of doing that one on their own for a long time, just because it's not in a manga anymore doesn't mean they'll stop doing it.

Lovers & Sharing (Kareshi Sharing) ban doesn't make any sense to me.

In before dozens of people screaming "well, kids shouldn't be reading this sort of stuff in the first place."

There is no "16+" rating in the Japanese print publishing industry. That's the problem. The publishers once tried to have one officially established, but their suggestion was denied. That's the reason they've had to resort to self-regulation, and these titles have been PG until now.

News flash: in Japan, getting an R rating is not a matter of wrapping the title in plastic and adding a sticker to the cover. It means that these titles will have to be moved to the restricted porn section, and that might mean it might not be economically feasible to publish them in the first place. As mentioned, Aki Sora is already dead in the water as far as reprints are considered.

If you think it like that it looks like Japan is becoming more and more like America. Non-pornographic erotica and stories that use sex as a plot device will be extinct - all that will be left will be completely innocent stuff and plain old boring porn.

What a sad thought. I don't know about you, but what drew me towards manga and anime in the first place was the casual, nonchristian attitude towards nudity and sex in titles that nevertheless had actual plots and characters.

And US schools also have teen prostitutes so having sex in school doesn't seem to be a good idea.

No problems with the list. Slap a sticker on them and be done with it.

I'll admit the first one's creepy, but the others at least sound like they have some artistic merit. Shit, at this rate, what are they going to do next? Raid Comiket?!

now do these actually CONTAIN rape? because the descriptions seem like it's all consented. The one about the age limit being lowered's plot actually kinda makes sense, the plot i mean. I haven't read it to know if it's actually contains rape, but in todays view i guess it would be viewed as statutory if...tho I see no reason for "gag comedies" to even contain sex at all.

I find most of these listed odd because they supposedly contain rape. Rape of any kind, involves sex and you'd think those would've already been restricted to 18+.

I'm just assuming all these "rape" ones are talking "statutory" rape of imaginary characters, they dont like sound like actual rape stories based on the descriptions.

Dumb law is still dumb.

EVERY country in the world has teen/preteen prostitues somewhere. I'm 100% sure of it. Sex in school is not a "good" thing but I don't see a reason for it to be a reason to ban a book. But if it 's got sex in it at all it should be 18+ ...

I assume it's not explicit enough. Champion RED ichigo agian, which we were expecting to see lots of titles from as it's borderline porn.

That was the whole justifictaion for the law. I think that's what they're trying to stop.

These should've been restricted after the first customer glanced at the first page. :/

Other than the last one, possibly, none of these can really count as anything other than cheap fetish fuel. Reason why I don't label the last one as this is cause the overall vibe it gives me is like the vibe an IFC movie gives me when the subject matter is similar.

Then again, I could be wrong. It could yet again be just cheap fetish fuel.

if there is no pregnancy involved, then, according to contemporary (secular) ethics standards, there is nothing wrong with sex at the age of 12 and beyond if both partners are about the same age... that is why condoms for 12 year olds are officially manufactured and sold in Europe since recently... it does not differ much from old times, by the way (juliet was 13 in Shakespeare's story)...

however, when one of partners is years older this might cross law (depending on country) and might be criminal... that is because with significant age difference there is much higher probability that sex is not quite consensual, id est forced, manipulated or that older partner has specific shift in his/her sexual interests, which may lead to unhealthy and traumatic situations for younger partner...

however, all of this above is about real life situations, not about drawings... and the number 18 is very strange limit since by that age people are mature for many years already... it is disputable that there is point in prohibiting them looking at the drawings...

heh... not that I am hugely supervised by this but there is nothing that can be done about it, nothing at all. This is just the beginning I am waiting to see what is going to be banned next but the 1st one.. that it's even to much for me really "my wife is a elementary school student" .. I have seen the anime my wife is a high school student but the male lead as 23 and she was 17 so not to much a big deal there. Time to import these so say oh look I have banned books.
