The Charlotte tube is so perfect I want to cry. Got to love a franchise with a sense of humor.

That Awesome Charlotte tube is Awesome.... expect some cheap (or even clever?) little pranks to happen because of that.

I have to wonder a bit, though, about the target audience for this, and how much actual use would be made out of them (rather than just being held hostage as collectors' items). Could there be enough girls or little kids to play with these things in public and without shame? (yes, maybe I'm using a sexist dividing line here, but for argument's sake!) I just feel that, save for the Oral Charlotte Tube and the Runic Text Charlotte tube, the merchandise scream obvious anime otaku, something that may not be too becoming for shyer otaku... and regarding the otaku that do make aquatic usage of them... well, does anyone want to see a half-naked body with it?

Though I will quietly admit that the chibi-adorned dice-shaped beach balls are adorable, so maybe I'm not the best person to raise these questions. Laughing

Didn't anyone else find this bit hilarious? Laughing

Too many Madoka Magica merchandise! Madoka, how much profit did SHAFT make from the series?

I do want some of this merchandise though...

Little kids have no shame. Only spoiled kids would be mad they got this, instead of the latest and most popular anime merchandise.

PMMM BluRay sales may disagree with you there. It's first BluRay sold 54,000 copys the first week which is a record high for any anime series. And that's with a disk that had to be recalled due to an error on one of the audio tracks!

I think another decent little indicator of popularity is the amount of fan-art that Madoka Magica gets on image sites like pixiv or danbooru. On danbooru, as of this writing, PMMM has at least 13,766 submissions in its corner, while K-On!, a show that's premiered in the Spring 2009 season (and already had a second season!), has 14,154 submissions to its name.It probably won't be much longer until the former's number of artworks catches up with the latter's.

Oooh, looking at all of this summer stuff I was just thinking they should make a wide brimmed black sun hat with Charlotte's gaping maw on the underside.

Make it happen, Japan.

I love the concept, just hate the price. $32 for inner tubes? $49 for a wading pool? Heck, $13 for a beach ball? I know there are fees and such, but that's an awful lot to pay for the equivalent of plastic balloons, and you STILL have to inflate them yourselves. Maybe we could have some of the hot air that BrainPolice seems to be full of if they set these prices.
