Any word if these will have subtitles? I'm interested in Blood C but if I can't understand what the characters are saying I'm less likely to try it out on NicoNico.

It's being streamed exclusively OUTSIDE Japan, in all the major english speaking countries. Yes, they will be subtitled. |

*sigh* Niconico.com still looks like it was designed by middle school students.
I'm pretty sure that's contributing to why no-one's using it (i.e. the 20th "Most Viewed (daily)" video has just 53 views, lol... of which not all of those views are even from today). They should have just stuck to the original website design and translated it like they did for all the other languages instead of dumping this separate walled off garbage on us. |

I am excited about this, since Blood-C is a series I wanted to see, and now I can legally. I do wonder though if the streaming will be free.

Good point. Also, when I first read the article I thought it said that NicoNico would only stream the first episodes (because of that "exclusively for one week" bit) but do they mean "each episode will only stream for one week" instead? Just feeling a little slow on the uptake today... |

Niconico clarified this point: each episode will be free for one week. After that, there is a one-time subscription fee of US$0.25 (one quarter) for all episodes during the ongoing beta period. The fee may change after the beta period, but it covers all of Nico Nico's membership services, such as the ability to stream live from your own camera-equipped computer onto Niconico's site. If you register on the site it gives you the option to use full-screen it also allows you to stop the comments from flying across the screen. I'm starting to really look forward to Blood-C! Hopefully with another website streaming anime we'll see more simulcasts over here. |
