Very informative interview.

I am happy that he actually answered how far into the manga the second season will take, so I am glad that the fans will see the entire Kyoto arc.

Thanks, Anime News Network, for the interview.

The first thing I noticed with the 2nd series was the drastic improvement in direction. I have to say, the season is much more action-packed, and a whole lot sexier than the previous!

The challenge to Fukuda now is to bring in this "new feel" in while not losing that wabi sabi which had made the first season successful. We don't want to lose our old fans as we invite in new ones now, do we?

Just wanted to point out that Fukuda made his directorial debut on Hyakko, not on Mayoi Neko Overrun!. He even mentions Hyakko right at the end.

EDIT: For people who are familiar with the show, can you start watching at season 2 without having watched the first one? I dropped the first season after only 1 episode, but I'm interested in seeing what Fukuda does with the material.

Yeah, I did notice that discrepancy!

I'm afraid you might have a hard time understanding the 2nd season without the first. Fukuda does mention that the former's 2nd episode starts after the Shikoku Youkai Arc, which was where the latter ended. Don't take my word for it, though! Give it a try!

Ehh, there are going to be a few things the characters say that you might not understand. If you couldn't even get past the first ep of the 1st season then you must have not liked it at all.. I recommend you avoiding the 2nd season. The only drastic difference is the animation and a new arc. But who cares what I say? xD Go watch it. Smile

I'd figured as much. If I like what I see, then I guess I can read a synopsis of what was covered to catch up. Thanks.

It was all good until "for directing..Hyakko" - for me that is one poorly put together and confused anime. I'll trust he's doing better with his direction in this second season of Nura.

Great interview Zac. This was pretty good and very informative. I must say that as someone who hated how nishimura-kun f*cked up everything i liked about the manga in the first season that fukuda-sama is doing a really good job with second season so far and since the arc thats being adapted is darker than the previous ones covered i would say the atmosphere he's going for definetly works. Although i am slightly dissappointed in the musical direction (not to say thats its bad) as its the only thing that i feel the first season got right because when he acctually tries kohei tanaka (unlike his lackluster score for buso renkin) he does great work which is why i imported the soundtrack for season 1. This season has a way better directional style that i dig despite my nitpicking and i would reccomend that people just read the first i think 6 or 7 volumes of the manga than watch the first anime because it was just another studio deen slide-show anyway. And finnaly the fights in this season also look like they acctually got someone who knows how to choreograph a fight this time round and not to mention less of the human characters who i dont like anyway because their antics are failry boring and uninteresting which i why i was blown away by the fact that they expanded on their activities in the first season. And for anyone who knows what the word sakuga means, the animation in this season is stylish and certainly something to behold. That concludes my rant Rolling Eyes
