Bakemonogatari sold like hotcakes and is one of SHAFT's best selling series, they would never let it fail. And the parts that were messed up in the Negima film were not necessary to the plot. The only thing wrong with the movie was horrible planning and a short run time. |

So much NisiOisin it's not funny. I guess I'll definitely have to check this out. Might as well start creating a whole new section for his flicks. But I still have to get Katanagatari first.

Yes about that...keeping in mind this is just one person's opinion and I know I'm probably going to have an old acquitance or two bearing down on me like hawks for daring to have it most likely...I don't think NisOisin is a very good writer. I mean he's no better or worse than any other light novel writer, or a Dan Brown or Stephanie Meyer to put out names of people I find to be his American Equivalent. Like don't get me wrong, I'm not deliberately trying to single him out here, he just churns out pulp wish fulfillment stories like he's supposed too and just happened to get really popular for it thanks in part to successful adaptations of his work that IMO far exceed his talent as a writer of the source material in more than a few categories. To be frank I think he has the most in common with Stephanie Meyer in having a bad habit of writing characters that come across as Mary Sue's and/or fetish fuel. Anyway, again, just one person who doesn't see what the big deal about NisiOisin's writing is and who also isn't really a fan of light novels either, but for those who do and are, enjoy the show I suppose. |

Hey, don't be shy about sharing your opinion; especially one that's brief, to the point, fairly reasonable and doesn't include the word "sucks" twenty or thirty times. |

Thank you, I really appreciate that. 
I was only a little worried because I know these works and the author are very popular and sometimes within anime fandom when a work or person is very popular, no matter how a person might approach a brief criticism of them, the fandom can sometimes get a little excited if you know what I mean and can also be quick to apply the hater label. Very glad that doesn't have to happen today. And yeah nobody really likes a person that just uses hyperbolic language in their criticisms and just bashes aimlessly. It's not a very contributory way of making discussion.

The Nisemonogatari trailer has some footage of Kizumonogatari in it and it's not as silly as this one, actually it has some really amazing fight scenes in it.

That was actually footage from Bakemonogatari's short (Kizumonogatari) prelude in Episode 01, not animation from the new Kizumonogatari movie coming out. It gives you a hint of things that will likely be re-animated for the movie, but that is all. The look and feel could be completely different in the movie. |

So you have read from some of his novels? I haven't so I'm weary to judge someone's talent based on adaptations of his work. That said, the impression I get based on his creations, rather than his writing is that the guy is a creative genius, however I don't know how much of the abstract imagery, if any, comes from his mind or the production staff. It would be difficult, maybe even impossible to write some of the visuals from Bakemonogatari into a novel which makes me sometimes wonder if he's just an average writer with production committees that know how to carry him. I would like to think the guy is just that talented, but I can't judge without seeing his original work. All I know for sure is that when it comes to adapting his works I do enjoy the end results.
