I don't think S'more is exactly a "new" company, as the company has done plenty of live-action, but maybe they want to enter the anime business now. Also, if they got Bobobo from Toei then I guess we can now truly say Illumitoon is gone once and for all (they updated the copyright to their website when 2011 came around, but the site went away in mid-2011).

If that's the case, then I do hope that S'more might consider giving at least B't X, B't X Neo, & AM Driver complete DVD releases. Illumitoon only got two DVDs out for B't X as well, the second DVD being a good DVD but it was too late, and AM Driver never even got a DVD at all.

Well, anyway, I say welcome to the anime industry, S'more, and good luck. Here's hoping this attempt by them works out well, and I'll probably be buying this boxset. I did enjoy what I saw on Toonami, afterall.

Yes! Welcome S'more! Lets hope you bring back some classic titles, like Discotek is doing.

Holy crap, it's legit? Shocked That's out of the blue. I could definitely see picking this up, since the dub is a total blast.

The DVD release of "Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo Complete Series Part 1" will ship on March 27 with 38 episodes (the first half of the series) on four discs with English subtitles and dubbing.

Waaaaaiiiitttt…38 eps. x 4 discs (w/ both subs and dubs)? Am I reading that right? About 9-10 eps. per discs?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see it get re-released and all, but what will those specs speak of the actually quality of the discs?

Their website is hot linked through the article, and I assume they meant it's new to the anime distribution thing.

Also, to whoever wrote this article, it's "Czar Baldy Bald the 4th", not Boldy Bold.

There is a chance that the DVDs will be double-sided discs, aka "flippers". That way, it's the equivalent of 8 discs, or 4-5 episodes per DVD side.

Their will probably be few (if any) special features, and they won't be 1080p.

The Pani Poni Dash boxset I have has roughly 7 eps per disc, and the video quality is similar to the ADV DVD's, with special features.

They still make double sided discs?

I was actually just looking at upcoming DVD releases on amazon yesterday and I saw bobobo part 1 to be released on March 27th 2012.

That will equal video bitrates of ~3500 or so for a disc with 10 episodes and dual audio at 192 Kb/s.

There's ways to make that decently watchable by using special low-bitrate quantization matrices, etc... But still, it's cramming a lot in there.

I can't believe this is actually coming out in America. And it's going to be dubbed!

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo was dubbed in English several years ago and was even shown on Cartoon Network. I imagine that it having an English version and some attention already is part of what made it an attractive license.

You're right! I totally forgot that that actually happened.
