Glad to see the PSP isn't dead quite yet, even in North America.

>No voices

Yeah, no thanks. I'll wait for someone to add the Japanese voicetrack to the ROM.

A JRPG on the PSP is quite a risky venture and voice over/licensing voice over is costly. I'm just grateful Atlus is taking such a risk. I'll definitely be picking this up.

I can understand not doing a dub, but they shouldn't even waste their time and money if they aren't even going to bring over the voices. I remember Mangagamer got hammered hard and lost quite a few of their long time customers for doing the same thing with Koihime Musou.

Their email announcement was a spoof of their December guessing game announcing Gungner, but this time all of the "clues" were "Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time" (but just in one email). Basically admitting that they were trolling people with the guessing game and the answer really could have been either game since they already had both licensed. I wonder if they flipped a coin?

Removing the voices is rather annoying. It's easy to say it's because the PSP is on its way out, but it's not like the game won't be downloadable on the PSVita so why not push for that rather than focus on the final days of the PSP? I'd rather have a complete download only game than a physical game with stuff missing. I kinda don't want to support this, but I also want to play it so I'll probably give in...

I just can't look at Satoshi Urushihara's art with a straight face anymore.

Especially not attached to a game called "Growlanser".

YES! I was hoping we'd get another Grwolanser game eventually, especially Wayfarer of Time Very Happy

The no voices aside form cutscenes is... off putting, though, and raises the question of why even the Japanese voices are gone. Oh well, I'm still excited for this! ^^

There's licensing issues with the Japanese track that Atlus USA probably doesn't want to handle for a Growlanser game.

When could anyone look at his art with a straight face? He's always either done porn, near porn, or RPG art.

Atlus always find a way to make me hate a release that I would like to get. First Catherine without jp audio and now no audio at all. It's their choice not to pursue the license of the Japanese audio. And so it is my choice to pass on this release.

I don't care at all about the lack of voices. The important thing is we're actually getting another Growlancer game in English. I never thought I would see the day Anime cry *cries tears of joy*

To each his own I guess. But I would never deprive myself of a good game just because of something as trivial as voiceovers. Voices or not I would still have a long, engrossing, and fun strategy RPG that I'll likely end up wasting far too many hours of my life in.

ANN didn't even post ATLUS's whole statement, which stated there were licensing restrictions which prevented its inclusion. Now, thats pretty vague, but I would be shocked to learn that they didn't at least try to get the JP audio, especially considering they weren't planning to do English audio. There are many different reasons this could have happened. The rights holder for the JP audio could have been a pain in the butt to work with, it could've been a certain cast member that was causing the problems (which seems to be a common issue for Visual Novels, though not necessarily RPGs), or more likely, perhaps it was simply too expensive and they couldn't have made a profit on the game if it was included, which would be very disappointing but understandable (at least in my point of view) and a small price to pay for FINALLY getting another game in this series in english.

It just sets a bad precedent. Originally, no games would come over here without a dub. And then more and more are starting to come over with only subs (Which I'm fine with). But now being too cheap to even get subs? I really hope this flops to send a message that this isn't acceptable.
