That was fast. Well, I'm glad it was all a misunderstanding, but there is still someone who needs to answer for "Robama" Anime smile

Really, though, I'm glad that the manga is still going to be sold so it can get back into circulation. A volume #1 of any manga is a great thing to have, so I hope they get spread around to new readers. This is why I'm donating several manga to my local library this week (and why you guys should consider it also).

There wasn't a misunderstanding, it was clearly a joke and there were just too many people taking it too seriously.

He also stated that he is "not at all anti-manga or a super patriot,"

As I noted elsewhere:

Sankaku Complex wrote:
Aside from the rather provocative tone of the flier, there may also be some potential lawsuits looming over the dangerously discriminatory “limit one per American citizen” rider, ironically enough considering the prominently featured “Robama.”

So take his statements and whats on the poster as you will.

Yeah, a friend I know actually lives in Winter Park, FL, really close by to the shop, and he says they regularly host a variety of events, some of them manga-related, some of them not. They apparently held a Skyward Sword launch party there, among other things.

I don't know what to make of it really, as I don't have a clue about the contents of whatever comic they are promoting, nor the "Steampunk Palin" comic. I'm assuming it's like an inside-joke for people who are familiar with those comics. In any case, because this is the Internet, some people will want to rant about it all day long.

EDIT: Speaking of which, I see TigerFaceFreak already ranted many generalizations and logical fallacies while I was typing this... [Since removed]

EDIT: Is ANN loading slow for anyone? I keep trying to submit this post and it keeps erroring out?

It was a blatantly controversial ad purpose built to get as many people talking as possible. And it succeeded quite well.

The fact that he even needs to say this just mind boggling.

Just how bloody eager must you be to get defensive to actually think for a second that this was anything but a joke?

Really don't know who TigerFaceFreak is talking to. Wonder if this thread has been moderated, and posts have been edited out.

No it hasn't been edited, it just makes no sense.

I'm believe TigerFaceFreak's post was meant as a preemptive reply to certain comments that may be posted by some "vain, ego hoarding, know it all elitist" ANN users. Because he's replying to comments that haven't actually been posted yet, his post seems very disjointed and confusing because the rest of us have no clue what he is referring to. It's like answering a question that hasn't been asked yet.

I didn't bother reading the massive amounts of comments on the previous article about this comic shop, but I'd imagine there's been quite a few arguments there. I'm guessing his post could have been in response to those people...

It has been now.

Regardless of his intent the rules specifically state that you can disagree with people and ANN all you want, but you are still expected to maintain some semblance of civility. Since he decided to fill his posts with generalizations, prejudice and outright attacks towards the users in general, the staff and the site; I'm afraid it had to be removed. He can disagree all he wants, he wouldn't be the only person, but if he wants to post he's going to have to learn to do so without posting a hate filled diatribe that directly insults and personally attacks other people.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Like anyone would have traded in their much more awesome Manga for some never-ending, ever-changing, repeating plot-lines with the same characters over and over and over for 50 years. heh...

Be pretty funny if all they got was CMX titles, this being DC sponsored and all.
