That is really odd: that they'd release a game in disc format everywhere in the world except for the U.S. version of the PS3. I guess they ran out of money for manufacturing anymore Blu-ray discs after putting them on Japanese and European shelves, then just came up short when they managed to circle around to the other end of the world Confused.

Tony K. Look at at this way, at least the game released in US game market. I can't tell you the sheer number of times in the 18 years of gaming I've seen games either released only in Japan, cancelled only in North America (some of areas of the world sometimes as well), or the entire project of the video itself was cancelled entirely, usually meaning the game won't even be published.

If I only had to choose between either playing a game via digital download or not at all, I'd go with the digital download. Something is absolutely better than nothing at all, at least in the sense of being able to play the game and then gauging a opinion.

There's still a group of people out there that are anti-DD-only. So... I wonder if the Koei crowd have a majority of those people or not.

...if the reason behind this is because that means they will help to publish Nobunaga+Pokemon, then I'll be happy, personally!

It seems this is some sort of stupid Sony policy thats keeping the game from seeing a retail release.

...but thanks to a little-known quirk in Sony's localization regulations, it will only be available on the PlayStation Network -- not on a Blu-ray Disc.

The voice acting in Warriors Orochi 3 hasn't been localized into English: the audio for the entire game is in Japanese, with English subtitles. Sean Corcoran, Marketing Manager for Tecmo Koei America, told me last week that Sony doesn't allow games without English voice acting to be released in the West on retail discs. So PS3 owners will have to buy the game on the PlayStation Store

So, to me this feels like a big F U from Sony considering the fact that they let Yakuza and Agarest War have retail releases despite having only Japanese audio. Do they just have it out for Dynasty Warriors or something?

Oh, I'm not being ungrateful for the digital release. I love these Koei beat-em-up hack-n-slashers, and I've always wanted to try a Warriors Orochi game (played the two franchises on their respective standalone games, but never the combined Orochi game). I just thought it was weird that they'd go through the trouble of even releasing it pretty much all over the world, but then seem like they stopped an inch from the finish line by making the U.S. PS3 release a download instead of an actual disc.

But by the looks of the reasoning, it sounds kind of nitpicky: not putting it on disc because it's Japanese language with subs only; as if no one would buy it because no one likes to read. I also heard Dynasty Warriors hasn't sold too well in the U.S. But it can't be that big of a difference between the production cost of a few BDs versus a digital download release, right? I'm not even that big a fan of these Warriors dubs anyway.

I have mixed feelings regarding this being PSN only. On one hand I prefer to have a disk over dl only, but on the other hand I can game share with friends to get the game cheaper. Such decisions...

If my post sounded harsh at all, I reallyam quite sorry, as when I wrote that, I meant in a comedic way of sorts, as at that time, I wrote that when I was quite tired.

I personally have always enjoyed video games with an English dub, as that is certainly a plus, but it's a not cheap to do, so you don't really see this being done often in games these days.

I just wish some of the games I'd like to play again would at the bare minimum would receive digital release. That is why I think more or less the Wii had some successes, as the wii ware was probably the best part of system.
