I've heard tell that things often sell well in their first week of release because that's when libraries buy them.

But that book came out in April? Not sure if people have noticed but it is June. I kinda think that should be GTO 14 Days in Shonan which debuted two weeks ago.

There are way too many different sources of US manga sales that say completely different things.

The major website for Diamond that tracks comic sales say that manga have been selling quite well again (with Sailor Moon as the #2 graphic novel in the month of April, for example, with a few other manga in the top 10,) yet there are websites that show that manga are selling extremely poorly.

I tend to just try and be optimistic and bet for the better numbers.

New York Times measures based on Book Stores I believe, not by online sales. Or at least the list measures some market share and not a significant other.

I remember Ed Chavez tweeting about how the New York Times list is pretty inaccurate, and how he said bookscan numbers where a lot more reliable to tell you how a series is doing.

I think the main thing that might lead to the confusion is that this measure by volume sales, but that obviously don't account for the vast difference in costs different series could have. Number that mean one series is selling well could be pretty bleak for another one.

Viz is releasing Bleach more rapidly, which is seriously needed given that we're only on volume 41 while Japan has up to volume 55.

A great way to clear up confusion on whose numbers are right would be to have publishers release weekly sales and/or shipped figures but I know that's asking too much.

Bleach being at number one and two on the list is quite nice its about damn time Viz got their asses in gear and finally decided to release two graphic novels a month for Bleach soon or later at the end of the year we will be close to the Japanese releases!

I stopped buying Bleach at Volume 37 because they were only releasing 3 volumes a year now they are speeding it up because the end of the series is coming. I'm done with Viz I just can't deal with this stupidness.

I'm surprised there are no Sailor Moon books on the chart this week. It has had a stranglehold on the charts for months now.

So... Viz is doing what you wanted, and you're calling them stupid? I think it's smart of Viz to finally be speeding up Bleach. Naruto and One Piece were both sped up years ago.

I'm glad to see GTO on the list. I really want Vertical to license rescue the main GTO series. I don't think it's too much to ask.

Publishers schedule their releases months in advance, and I remember seeing the current 2book/month schedule on Amazon some time ago, around when they first announced SJ Alpha and sped up all the Jump series' digital releases to get within 2 weeks of Japan. I'm fairly sure that was before we started hearing about Bleach ending, and I doubt Viz's decision had anything to do with that fact.

Isn't VIZ watching things like this and noticing that Pokemon Adventures is selling? They need to get on to the skipped volumes.

That would be awesome but I already bought all the Japanese volumes (which I can barely read or understand) thinking that it'd never happen ^^" And I'm super surprised volume 3 of platinum is on here since I bought that in January and I live in freaking Australia, as a general rule we get things later than in America so this is a real delayed spike in sales...?

Really happy VIZ has started their Bleach speedup Anime hyper I stopped reading scanlations a while back so it would be nice to be kinda caught up...
