Toho is not Toei! 東宝 is Toho. "Toei"s in this article should be changed to "Toho".

The short little Thermae Romae anime series that ran on noitaminA was a hoot. I'm not surprised the movie is doing well.

Apparently Thermae Romae is only the 13th film since 2001 to spend 13 weeks in the Top 10 along with Spirited Away, the first Harry Potter, Avatar, Howl's Moving Castle, The Last Samurai, Bayside Shakedown: Save the Rainbow Bridge, the 2nd HP, Ponyo, Crying Out Love in the Center of the World, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc. and the 3rd Lord of the Rings, and so only the 3rd japanese non-animated movie to do so since 2001. Quite an unexpected but nonetheless amazing achievement really.

Regarding Doraemon, its 32nd movie set a franchise record with those 3.62 billion yen. It's impressive to still be breaking franchise records after over 30 years (albeit it had little competition when it came out this year thus staying on top for 5 consecutive weeks).

How much money did the K-On movie make in the theaters if you count the whole time it was out? It came out like early December so I'd have to imagine at least half of its money was in the first month.

1.90 billion yen is its final total. Box office years in Japan begin in december and end in november. Wink

If Hollywood wants to make a live-action version of a manga, it should be Thermae Romae. Have the cast as westerners as it should be.
