I'm glad I bought this series, but then, I'm a Natsume Ono fan. In a sea of over-the-top storytelling, Ono's is remarkably subtle. I also think she is very canny about tying up loose ends, unlike a lot of manga I've read which end with plot threads blowing in the wind.

Other mangaka, one in particular who I will not name, could do well to take a look at her concise storytelling, and the way she is able to develop characters. At the conclusion, you feel like you really understand her characters, their quirks, their motivations. This is all done in 8 volumes (rather than, say, 22 or 23 ... Cool ).

Then again, I doubt she has a publisher who urges her to pad the story out for more volume sales. While I can understand this practice from a business sense, as a reader, I notice when it is done. Ono's stuff never seems like filler to me.

Thank you, Carlo, for the review.
