I hope the Ranma BD remaster gets released over here. Ranma is what originally got me into anime, so I'd love to experience it again in HD.

I doubt it, the fanbase has diminished over time and it would cost a fortune. Even though FUNi was doing DBZ's BDs themselves, even that wasn't selling well enough to pay for itself. I'd rather see the UY movies remastered, and kept in 4:3, I hate when they crop 1.33:1 films to 1.85:1. Sure it fits the TV better, but you're losing so much information.
I'm not sure where they're getting 218 for the Urusei Yatsura episodes. The show is 195, the OVA series adds 11, and then even the spring specials and recent OVA only add another 3 to that. Even if you were to count the films as episodes, that's still only 215. Where are the extra three coming from? |

I'm willing to lay down the money for both Ranma and Maison Ikkoku Blu-rays in the U.S. -- especially since I was never able to get the final two Maison Ikkoku boxsets, which I am still kicking myself over. I wonder if Viz would consider something akin to what Right Stuf did for Victorian Romance Emma and have folks commit to the purchase up front? |

yeah me too, the bad news is that Viz Media no longer have the Ranma anime license (that does explain why there's no DVD reprint in US), I hope maybe Viz or Funimation or Sentai could pick up the license.

I seriously doubt we will see ranma1/2 here on bluray anytime soon
keep in mind the pricing basically, only older fans are going to be purchasing this there is no incentive for a cheap US release that I can see |

I'm pretty sure they must be counting each two part episode as two episodes. There are 21 two-part episodes + 1 two-part special + 174 single-part episodes = 218 episodes, counting each two-parter as two episodes. |

Hopefully they still have the original film so they can do an excellent transfer. Being hand drawn on cells is definitely a bonus for older shows being put on bluray.
I also would love to see these in the US, but I'm sure that despite their age they'll probably have hard to justify / pricey licensing fees. |

FUNimation has shown interest in rescuing Ranma 1/2 (well, to be specific, they said they'd "Love to have it"), so I'm hoping it will end up in their hands. If not, maybe this release will have the English dub as an alternate track???? The Viz DVDs are very discontinued, so it's not easy to find the show anymore.

I suppose so, but each of those split episodes were still contained by a single OP-ED pair, so I wouldn't count them as their own separate episodes, and given them numbers. That screws up when you talking about later episode numbers, like episode 66 for example when using the 195 count. |
