Beside one episode of Star Wars: The Clone war, we already had a Seven Samurai in space, it's called Battle Beyond the Stars. There's already a remake of Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven in production BTW. So I believe Zack Snyder on that.

Well, Star Wars was at its best when using Kurosawa, so this cannot be any worse then with Lucas in control with no one to tell him "No." People will tell Synder "no", and the film will be better for it. Limitations force creativity.
