Dat feel when something you look forward to and invested so much in turns out to be somewhat disappointing... I know dem feels.

I hope the companies pull through for you. They owe you that much.

$400 and no AAA batteries included. You got me there. haha.
I'd love to start getting some Soul of Chogokin series robots and stuff. I like the look of Ideon a lot. Wonder if the price of Mazinger will ever go down. haha.
Anyways, cool article, man.

Thanks! SoC Ideon is really good, I bought it at a big discount a few years back. Transformation is perfect, and the base figure doesn't suffer at all for it. It looks amazing displayed with the Ideon Gun, which projects light into a plastic beam for a very impressive beam effect.

The price is now many times what I paid ($80), of course. If you don't jump on an SOC release it's just not gonna be there six months down the line. If there's any I regret not buying when I was really into this stuff, it's SoC Gunbuster. Gunbuster is my favorite ever and I just didn't have the cash (250!) at the time of release. It goes for $400-500 now.

I recommend, if they haven't already done it (and SoC covered most of the Super Robot pantheon years ago), waiting for a robot you really love to come out. Or keeping an eye on the little brother Super Robot Chogokin line: I'm buying SRC Gunbuster as a personal purchase.

I guess Mazinger Z can't figure out how to pick his hands back up after he shoots them off.

I got the Revoltech Gunbuster myself.

I also bought the Super Robot Chogokin Zeorymer and it's pretty awesome.

I feel your pain David, I really do. Well, okay, I haven't paid $400 for a defective armless robot, but your outrage is so hot I can feel it from Down-under.

There's no doubt the figure is visually fantastic, but the packaging looks flimsy as heck and the lack of options on the cutaway armour is a bit weird. I can definitely see how this figure may have been a last-minute rush-job money-grab. Although you have to wonder why it's a rush-job; it's not like the date of the fortieth anniversary wasn't known, well, forty years in advance. Bandai had years to design and build and refine this.

Hi, guys, wanted everyone to know that Bluefin has contacted me and Bandai's "looking into replacement solutions". I'll take this to mean that soon my Mazinger will have arms. Hopefully in time for next week's article (mostly already written/photographed/video'd) but I kinda doubt it.

I think the reason it doesn't come with batteries is due to customs issues.

He's a rescue from a puppy mill in Tennessee so it's possible. Pit is the only breed I know for sure.

Phew, now that if a figure if I've ever seen a figure. I don't collect super robots (Saint Seiya is more than enough for my budget..) but I've got a friend who does and I will definitely be sending this article off his way. Terrible about the cut corners and the arms, though - you're right, when you pay that kind of price, you expect to get 100% perfection. I hope you get your replacements.

Also, your dog is adorable.
