Mm, haven't seen a ongoing mecha series for awhile here so might give this a shot.

I'm pretty much expecting it to be juvenile and horribly overdramatic. Guess we'll find out when it airs, but mecha shows get really tiring when they're like that.

Most mecha series made in at least the last ten years fall under that description, one way or another, regardless of how good or bad they are.

I'm expecting very little, to be quite honest, but I'll give it a standard three episode test and move on if nothing stands out by then.

It can go into hyper mode!

I'm still not liking the mix of school scenes and mecha space battles. Maybe I'll just wait until the 5th episode is out or something and watch that one to see if there's anything worthwhile going on.

You must be new to mecha fans on the internet lol. That still won't stop some people from bitching about it literally every chance they get. It's a mecha show, pick one aspect you don't like and talk about exclusively that in every news article or episode discussion and do so in tones that suggest it's a personal affront to all that is good and decent in the world....that's how a sizable chunk of this fandom works, they simply don't know how to have fun anymore and take the good with the bad. It's really melodramatic and pretty ironic considering a lot of what gets complained about is the melodrama that is present in a lot of mecha style shows.

Once the show actually starts it'll all transition to something more tangible no doubt. It's kind of robotic and a reflexive action really and I don't even think it's an attempt to troll or anything, it's just what happens.

Personally I intend to watch it with the simple hope that it'll keep me entertained and interested from week to week and go from there. I like much of what I see pertaining to the audio-visual side and think the CGI looks fine in the PV at least. I'm personally not a huge fan of the whole high school setting blend with military combat, but it really depends on how it's used. No matter what many will certainly try to say there's rarely such a thing as a bad by default setting or concept, it ultimately comes down to how it gets used.

Does this series look like the "hero" robot going end up being similar to Super Robot genra (like Voltron) vs Real Robots (like Gundam).

I agree i'm not crazy about another over dramatized highschool drama story between kids fighting in robots in space over squabbling about nothing. I just hope it good enough story. Alot these animes coming out end up having no substance, i'm glad least its not a re-image of older series.

I agree pretty much wholeheartedly with what Kaioshin Sama said. Anime catgrin And let me preface my comments with admitting that I'm somewhat of a mecha fan and I'll be watching this. Anime hyper But I'm somewhat befuddled by two factors in this discussion: Confused

1) While I haven't seen every mecha series out there, I have yet to see one that isn't melodramatic in one way or another. Rolling Eyes (Which is part of the appeal IMHO) Well, maybe "Dai Guard"… but I totally loved it anyway. Anime smile + sweatdrop

2) How can one claim to be a fan of anime in general and then say they won't watch a series because it incorporates the "high/middle/whatever school element"? Surprised Yes, I know that not every show has it, but c'mon now… Razz

… and now you may proceed to arrest me for over-abuse of emoticons. Twisted Evil

Oh look, it's every generic mecha anime from the past decade. All over again.

Whee.
