I'm still waiting for Hanban no tsuki ga Noboru Sora to get a US release. However on a more on topic comment, Why would he want to stop writing? Not paying as much as he'd hope, or found another calling of life?

It's generally known that it is difficult for successful writers to earn a living in the U.S. I doubt that Japan is any different, so it's no surprise that Hashimoto would think of quitting.
You need to have a steady enough & large enough income to have a stable life, a career in writing often just won't do that. Mark Gosdin |

Actually, he's been writing "not-light" novels lately. The reason why he consieders quitting is the usual stuff, read his blog. Can't live out of writing anymore. Sales dropping and all that.
